I have been using the Wivenhoe practice for a few years now. All my family are registered with them, and we wouldn't go anywhere else. They are always accommodating, polite and professional. Hazel in particular has always gone above and beyond to help us, nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for the fantastic service always.

I have been going to Eye open since my now 7 year was told he needed glass just before his 2nd birthday at another opticians, where he was given 1 option, so contacted Hazel at eyes open and was offered amazing service and choice.

We have been visiting regularly for nearly 5 years and can not fault them, the service is incredible always go above and beyond and always make all 3 of my childrens experience a pleasure. They have a fantastic range of childrens and adult glasses.

Overpriced and awful customer service - very disappointing and I do not recommend.
She quoted for frames that she specifically stated we're under a certain amount, I went for a cheaper pair, only to be charged for an expensive pair on collection! Then she was abrupt, rude and confused me into thinking I should pay a lot more than originally quoted. (I wrote down the amount and had someone with me, then checked the receipt).
Breach of GDPR when she accused me of lying and that she would listen to the conversation - CCTV is for safety not listening to customers. Intimidating me again infront of my young son, upsetting him.
Intimidating, abrupt infront of children and overcharged.

No issue with my eye exam and fulfilment of my prescription, although very slow. My first pair have been excellent. I was then told that I needed prescription specs for close work so I went along and ordered a second pair. I chose a cheaper frame as the two pairs came to over £600! After only a few weeks use the cheaper frame actually broke and were not repairable. I took them in and was told in no uncertain terms that I had caused them to break because of taking them off incorrectly. The assistant grudgingly replaced with a frame from the showroom, complaining that they ‘ would get nothing back’ for the the broken ones. I accepted the substitute even though not my choice of colour, but seemed the best option. Within two weeks these were on the verge of breaking in the same way. I took them in this week and was again blamed for damaging them myself! I explained that I had been extremely careful, always kept in a case etc. the same assistant just came back with reasons why it was entirely my fault. The fact that my others, and frames I have had for many years, are perfectly intact was ignored. They are going to break very soon, and I will take them back as I cannot afford to waste £150+ There’s no question these are substandard frames, I do not wish to be seen by this assistant.

From eye test to final collection, every member of staff was so helpful, friendly and professional. I highly recommend this independent optician.
After repeatedly buying and breaking/loosing cheap ready-readers, I finally decided to enquire about Variofocals (day to day and Safety glasses for work.) Hazel and the team talked me through all my options with no pressure to buy on the day of the eye test. I returned a week later to select frames and lenses. Hazel was great, 2x frames (both in sale) plus safety glasses. Collected 3 pairs yesterday. Very happy customer.

I have been taking my children here for the last 4 years, my daughter can be very anxious going into situations, she absolutely loves coming to see all the staff here, they are all kind, caring and patient with both her and my son. There has been situations where my daughter’s glasses have broken, Hazel has always managed to see her on the same day and organise either fixing the frames or putting the lenses into a new frame. Highly recommend.

Recently came here as a new client for a new contact lens prescription and fitting. I thought the optician was very thorough and took the time to explain everything as well as answer my questions. I liked that I only paid one (in my opinion, very reasonable) fee for multiple visits. Am pleased that I took a chance here as I'm very happy with my new prescription and lenses.
