When we arrived there was only one other group of people there and we thought mm.But we can't fault the service or the food .The lady behind the bar was excellent with customer service and the food was the best I had out for a very long time .Hot ,tasty and plenty of it
A lovely place to visit for food ,a hidden gem

Stayed here for one night, and would happily have stayed longer. Really well run pub, that has a number of rooms for b and b. Ate in the bar in the evening, and the food was excellent, as was the local beer. Pick the right night, and you can 'join in' the quiz. The local area is attractive, and quiet, and full of good walks - easiest is the Old Mineral Line.

Booked a table for a Sunday Lunch, just as well as the place was very busy. Had the Beef, really good quality and plenty of it, food all round very good, great service, only minor point was the Yorky was average, small shop bought quality.

Rude old man serving. He was rude to a female staff member. Guinness tasted off. Didn’t feel comfortable approaching the rude barman about it. Lovely walks around the area though!

The pub is a little tricky to get to, but nothing difficult. It is worth it though when you get there.

The location is beautiful, the service is welcoming, friendly and warm. The food is great and the quality is phenomenal.

We’ll definitely be going back here for another visit.

Spent New Years Eve at The Valiant to be closer to family. Accomodation is so comfortable, everything you would need eg: comfortable mattress, warm decorated beautifully, shower with hot water. Television if needed and most of all dog friendly. The food was delicious, staff friendly. Will definitely be back.
