Ran by English Heritage, staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Extensive grounds, plenty to see, the tunnels being my favourite. Free carpark on site.

Been before about 6 years ago. This time we took our mum whose a wheelchair user. With this we couldn't take her to see all of it. But what she did see, she loved. The staff were so helpful. Highly recommend for you to visit. Suitable for all ages. Recommend buying a guide book, only £3.50 as of this date. They also offer an audible tour. Small gift shop. Coffee and refreshments, u recommend the ice cream. Pet friendly. Disabled toilets with an accompanying spider hehe.

Amazing history on our doorstep.
Welcoming, professional and helpful staff.
Disabled access, but hard terrain, not an easy activity for wheelchair users.
Overall as a first time visiter, glad I've been.
Worth a visit.

A surprisingly great day out.
Stuck on the banks of the Thames across the water from Gravesend.
Huge place to visit and explore.
Loads of information and being able to walk practically all the way around.
It's definitely an eye-opener.
Walking through the tunnels and armouries is a surreal experience. Just cannot imagine how dark and dank it must have been with just oil lamps to light the way.

Quite an impressive site that spans different periods of history. It's like Dover castle on a smaller scale. There is a car park outside the gate or you can park next to the entrance. Inside you are free to wonder looking at the chapel, the defences and stores up to the more modern second world war guns. There are information boards dotted around and an exhibition on the history of the site or you can get a guide book. There is a small shop but no cafe on site. Once you have finished in the fort you can walk along the river.

What a nice relaxed place to spend an hour or two. Kids can run around and explore, then have a picnic on the grass.

It is amazing that this fort is almost intact, built by Henry V11 and improved by Henry 8Th. There are cannons from 17 century and from 20th century. Good information about the storage of gunpowder, you can go into a couple of the officers houses. Check out when they will have the re-enactment day
