A beautiful old building oozing with history . I grew up sleeping under Witney blankets then duvets took over.
The lady managing the shop was interesting to talk to & gave us a brief history of the place.
We had the home made pies in their cafe which were delicious. Everyone was helpful & friendly.
A must see for English history lovers.

I visited the cafe at the hall; the experience is lovely. The cafe is in really old building, and has lovely outside space, which backs to the river. Its a great experience for all the senses. The hot drinks and selection of cakes is good. Museum has great photos and display that is a great coonection to thr past of the area.

Everything you could want from a woolen blanket shop. Lots of throws, scarves and picnic blankets all set out in a museum to the Witney woolen trade. Just a pity the pie shop would not take dogs inside. As it was raining we had to give it a miss.

The pie shop had very disappointing pies. Couldn’t finish the pie as it didn’t have any flavour. It was off-putting in its blandness and horribly textured. Pease pudding was not pease pudding and was actually mushy peas (which I do not like). The mash was tasteless and unseasoned. Gravy also tasteless. Shame as it looked ok. Best thing on the plate was a Brussels sprout and even that was average.

Historic hub of the blanket industry of Witney. Beautifully restored. Pie shop cafe and beautiful garden down to the riverside. Friendly staff. Museum and shop of the blanket industry (doesn't mention the shameful Early's of Witney 2002 pension scandal). But totally recommend a visit.

A little bit of calm in a busy world.
A hidden gem in Witney.
If you just want a cup of tea a cream tea or the full works pie you will not be disappointed.

The place is a museum and a cafe at the same time, it has got everything tha concerns the local trade history.
If you are in for a speedy meal you are NOT in the right place. It will take ages to get your food, even if you are the only table. But if you don't have time expectation, do take some time to enjoy the exhibition by the toilets and the beautiful garden with a view on the river. It is worth it. Overall a beautiful visit and the food by the way, is actually great. (Carefu,l the plates are boiling hot!)
