We arrived at The Swan Inn by boat, and it was a great experience from the start. The atmosphere was fantastic—really relaxed and welcoming.

The food was good too, with plenty of tasty options on the menu. I opted for the lasagne, everything was fresh and well-prepared.

Overall, it’s a great spot to stop by, especially if you’re arriving by boat. We’ll definitely visit again.

Went in low season (January) 2025, with my husband, living in Norwich. Not especially busy but at low season the staffing levels are lower. But this did not detract from the dining experience. The staff who were working were fantastic. Karol greeted us in and took us to our table giving us a few minutes to decide what we wanted. On a cold Sunday afternoon the decision was easy, and we both had a roast sirloin of beef. The service was fast and our Sunday lunch with all the trimmings was delicious, although (and I am being really picky because the meal was very good), I wish I had been given more carrots. Finished off with a small Bakewell sponge pudding with custard.
Our thanks to Jordan, Tracey and Karol for making us feel so welcome.
We will definitely be back, you have an amazing pub/restaurant.

The Swan Inn is a nice little pub that does food with mooring directly on the broad. However currently the quayside is closed for repair (August 2024) but we moored up down the river a ways and walked up.

We had booked a table for Sunday lunch and that was lucky because other people queuing up to get in when it opened were turned away for food without a booking as they were full.

Food was marvellous, and although my order came out wrong this was quickly rectified and £10 knocked off the bill without even asking for it.

The pudding was very slow coming out but every single thing was made fresh and cooked on site and definitely worth waiting for.

10/10 recommend the chorizo nibbles and olives.

TLDR: food great, pub busy, service slow paced

A usual haunt for us as its my wife's favourite place. The food is a bit on the more expensive side but you certainly get what you pay for.

On a nice day or evening you can get lost sitting outside just staring at the peaceful broads and boats going by.

Would more then recommend this place. The staff are very warm and friendly and certainly make you feel very welcome.

The Swan Inn in Horning is a true gem nestled along the River Bure. One of its standout features is the boatside mooring, making it a perfect spot for those arriving by boat. The outside area is delightful, offering an ideal place to relax and watch the boats glide by while soaking in the serene atmosphere.

Inside, the pub has a charming rustic look, with wooden beams and cozy nooks that make you feel right at home. The interior is steeped in history, with pots of stairs leading to different levels, adding to its unique character. Whether you're there for a pint or a hearty meal, The Swan Inn offers a memorable experience that beautifully captures the essence of Norfolk.

Unfortunately a second low review from me.

This is not based on food received, I’m sure that’s lovely! This is service based only.

The first was due to finding pigeons in our room!

This time we returned whilst moored near by with the hope of redemption!

Headed inside to ask the availability of a table for Sunday roast at around 16.30 in February. Was unfortunately met by an obnoxious barmaid. Not sure of her name? Fairly elderly, grey hair in ponytail?
I asked nicely if they had any roast dinners left and was told we needed to occupy the table before she would tell me!!
Was told to get the rest of my party immediately if I wanted to secure the table!
Mentioned it was my birthday and was hoping for a nice dinner with my family and that was met with said barmaid circling her finger around her face in a ‘bothered’ motion!

Incredibly rude in my opinion and would not spend money here in.

I’m sure a little more staff training could help this place out.

Unfortunately dines out on being a riverside pub so doesn’t need to try to be good.

Disappointing.

One of the worst meals I have ever had, took over 60 minutes to get food. My potatoes with my fish cakes were like rocks, went to the bar (my sister in laws had the same and potatoes were just steamed!). Went to the bar to ask for some other potatoes or chips, plate snatched, taken away (wasn’t bothered about rest of food that was nice). I asked to keep it she said no and ran off with it… 10 minutes later she said new one coming, I sis don’t want it, just wanted new potatoes. She said chef thrown away. Just rubbish
