We came across this place by accident, simply looking for somewhere to eat that also accepted dogs. The meals were stunning, I haven't enjoyed a meal so much for years. We were served by a lovely young lady called Courtney, who was charming and super helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Stuck for somewhere to eat 2 nights later, having already booked for the night after, we decided to eat there again. Same delicious choice of food, we had different meals, again absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend this place to eat or simply for a few drinks. We'll be back! 😋

We visited The Star Inn for Sunday roast, having booked for 1:30pm, only to find that most of the roast options had already run out—disappointing, especially with a reservation. On top of that, the food took 53 minutes to arrive, which really tested our patience.

When it finally did arrive, it didn’t redeem the wait. The roast potatoes were a strange mix of half-boiled and half-roasted, ending up mushy and flavourless. The meats were dry, overcooked, and sadly tasted like cardboard. The Yorkshire puddings were soaked in grease and barely resembled a proper Yorkshire.

The drinks didn’t help either. The Diet Coke from the tap was overly foamy and tasted off, hinting that the pipes might not be cleaned often—definitely not reassuring.

Service was a mixed experience. The older gentleman serving us came across as miserable and was even rude to customers in plain view of others. On the brighter side, the young woman was lovely and welcoming, and the boy who delivered our food was polite and very attentive.

We had a Sunday roast, choice of pork, beef or lamb plus the full menu as well.
The beef was excellent and my wife loved the lamb.
All served with carrots, parsnip, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and vegetables with lashings of lovely gravy.
Service was excellent, food served within 5 minutes of sitting down.
Really couldn't fault the Star Inn in any way.
Nice friendly staff was an absolute bonus. Thank you all.

Great pub! Lovely Sunday lunch had the roast lamb, delicious. And puddings with amazing. Lovely staff and friendly atmosphere. Recommended.

Awesome little place, some interesting local beer that’s been brew specially for the the bar with an interesting Somerset twist.

Clean ale with bitter finishing (kiwi) was the drink and to be honest price was 4.30 for a pint which are pretty awesome . I wouldn’t recommend started this with but mid session or session ale would have be ok.

Some special manu of the day but being small town next to a harbour you expect to more local
Seafood but nevertheless there is some in there.

Over all ever was great but inside where alittle dark and gloomy that may need updating alittle bit but…..said that it is worth a visit for those special refreshing pint or two. Oh also dog friendly/pub restaurant.

Recommend by a local, true to advice it was outstanding. The bar manager and staff couldn’t be more friendly and made us feel like locals.
The food was awesome plenty of choice, well cooked and delicious.
The pub is well attended by locals and was running a quiz night too.
All in all a very special night in a very special place.

Good food, great atmosphere. Was welcomed like we were in there every week. They had some sort of competition going on with a visiting team from elsewhere, but food and service were still fabulous. The Calamari was exceptionally good, not your usual rubbery rings, but all sorts of shapes and sizes cooked very well.
The landlord and waitress were both friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back. After dinner, literally cross the road to the car park and a short walk along the harbour wall to allow your dinner to go down.
