We came he just after new year.
Absolutely love the selection of pies, it’s almost to hard to choose from.
I did however get the wonky donkey (Christmas in a pie)
Loved the pastry and the pie portion is huge, good value for money, the filling was nice but I hardly had any meat in it, i found a few bits of sausage and chunky parsnip and other bits.
I’m not saying it wasn’t nice, I ate it so it can’t of been that bad, I just thought there would have been a little more meat in it.
My son got the mustang, which is spicy but he absolutely loved it, I tried a little and thought it was very tasty too.
Can’t remember the name of my husband chicken and ham?! I think, he really enjoyed this one.
Onion rings were a little greasy, chips were amazing and mushy peas too.
The senior staff were pleasant and friendly,
the younger staff could do with a little more training and a smile wouldn’t go a miss.
You do feel like you’re being ignored a little and we ended sitting there quite a while waiting to order drinks, at one point I had to go find someone.
Wish I could give five stars, but this time with our experience I’m going to have to give four.
Would come again in the future and have recommended a couple of friends to come and try.

Well worth a visit.
Portion sizes are huge, pies tasted amazing.
We hadn't pre-booked a table but they were happy enough to sit us both at a larger table.
Staff are lovely and friendly. As we had never visited before, the ordering process was explained brilliantly and was easy to understand.
Great selection of pies on the menu.
Would definitely visit again.

This is a really excellent English pub and an absolute *MUST VISIT* for pie enthusiasts. They have an extensive menu of all different types o pies and a solid selection of beers and spirits behind the bar. The service was very good despite only one guy running everything from pulling pints and serving drinks, to seating customers and answering the phone. The lad needs a medal for staying so polite and considerate (so respect to the big guy with glasses, curly hair and a few tattoos).

Considering the portion size the prices are reasonable, although expect to be paying 20 quid plus per pie and sides. No complaints though as the pie was delicious and well worth the money. Four of us dined there and the bill was roughly 150 quid for a main each, 2 side orders and 3 desserts plus drinks. Can't complain as it really was an experience sampling these excellent pies.

The pub is also a great reflection of the local area and typical friendly Yorkshire culture. Having come over from China for a family visit, it was a joy to sit inside the pub and take in all the little trinkets, hangings and items dotted about the place to really feel like I was back home.

6 of us visited for a family meal today. It was lovely you can have chips and veg or mash and veg with your pie .The vegetables were perfect .The pies were amazing filled to the brim with lovely homemade pastry. I had chicken potato leek and tarragon pie . You have the choice of you are not a big eater to have a take home box so they put half the pie in a box for you to take home and only put half on your plate which I did. My husband are the other piece when I got home .The service was very good our waiter was lovely.
We will definitely be going back just a nice 20 min drive for us .

What’s not to like? 52 different pies !!!

Great food , great atmosphere, great service.

We had it recommended by some friends and they told us to book and I’m glad we did as it was full. Very easy to see why - it’s brilliant.

Cannot adequately express how good my pie was. It was epic - no flaky crust covering a thin bit of “filling” with loads of fresh air in between just a solid chunk of brilliant pastry FULL of steak that was rammed to the top. Simply stunning - very happy bunny when we left. Highly recommend and will return. Dog friendly too and they do Dog pies as well.

Planned the pie stop as part of the East Riding road trip.
Did not disappoint 👍

Took advantage of the £5 overnight camping offer ( £15 no EHU , £10 redeemable against pie charge!)

Would highly recommend browsing the 52 pies on offer BEFORE you show up! It will avoid you spending 2 pints worth of time while selecting at your table!!!

Lovely hotel with an amazing pie-centric menu. We visited during their special offer and enjoyed room, breakfast, a dish from the pie menu and a bottle of wine. An absolute bargain in my opinion.

What a great pub. Never seen such a selection of pies. If you can’t find a pie to suit your taste here then there’s summat wrong with you. The portions are huge too. We even had the doggy pie for our pooch and he loved it just as much as we did ours.
