My mother's assistance in support for Mr Collins who owned the wood above the top easterly edge of the quarry to build the "New Road" that became the (B3277) was certainly appreciated by him as he lived away at the time. When we first moved here an American Jeep was parked in the quarry entrance and was only removed probably prior to the making of the cabin. Personally I would jog up and down the private drive in my Debenhams casual tracksuit and could observe holiday makers playing sports like badminton. Truthfully I have never ventured there though as I say observed from above and couldn't resist having a look inside through the photographic resourcefulness of this modern mobile telephone. I recollect being upstairs in one of the cabins opposite the entrance pond at Deer park, near Plymouth, Devon. My mum would be on the veranda in her dressing gown with bread for the ducks.

My partner and I had a lovely restful stay here in August. The cabin is in a secluded spot on the edge of Wiveliscombe, yet near enough to easily walk to the pubs and shops. The cabin had everything we needed and we much appreciated the welcome gifts! Worked as a great base for walking in Exmoor, the Quantocks and even the South West Coastal Path.

Both my wife and I had a great stay at The Old Quarry, its location as a base is superb for venturing out to the many picturesque spots located in and around Somerset. The lodge itself offers everything you could want from a holiday property and the grounds it is set in are fabulous. Its very peaceful and private with so much wildlife to see. Both Paul and Rachel were also very welcoming and ensured we had a lovely stay.

The loation is perfect for venturing into the surrouding areas of both Somerset and Devon. The cabin was full with everything you need and both clean and spacious. The garden is simply magical like staying in Farthingale wood!

Nice and cosy cabin, with a well equipped kitchen! Plenty of room to park a good few cars and only a short walk from town, would highly recommend a weekend away here. The owners are great and very helpful with anything you need while staying here.
