The Old Kent Market is a charming little spot right next to Margate beach. It looks great from the outside, with a few benches out front to sit and enjoy the view.

Inside, it’s spread over two floors, though I was expecting it to be a bit bigger. There are a few places to grab a bite — like a bakery, some takeaway stalls, and a quirky bus café. There’s a communal seating area in the middle, but it can feel a bit cramped during busy times. Lots of interesting little shops selling unique items like handmade jewellery and vintage-style clothing.

Overall, a nice visit, but a bit disappointing as I was hoping for a bit more variety and space.

Really great atmosphere and food. Wish we’d been in earlier because the shops looked good too. We got food from Okie Poke and the pizza place - which I can’t find listed on the directory. Both were great! Got a drink from The Little Prince - also really nice.

In short - a delightful gem of a food market situated just outside Margate Old town.

Longer review: Clearly this venue is a hive of activity with many locals and tourists buying into the rich variety of food on offer. I noticed Asian, Greek, pizza and pastries - not to mention the micro pubs found inside. The atmosphere seems electric and there is a certain buzz about the place you can’t help but notice. Upstairs there are also small boutiques selling clothes and other curiosities. Would give this place 5 stars - but it does seem quite pricey for what’s on offer!

Found by chance and impressed with the choice of food, coffee, wine bar and shops. Only had time for a drink and a snack but would definitely return for breakfast/lunch.

I was not too keen on this place the first time I saw it because it was so dim inside. But gave it a quick tour and discovered that the bakery had good French croissants and sausage rolls. And the Thai stall offered Thai Iced Tea that even the Thai restaurant next door didn’t. Quite promising.

Lovely little indoor food market (with other shops and salons upstairs indoors). Great for groups so you can eat from different places. All reasonably priced and pretty cheap drinks. Bakery was also amazing and really cheap.

An unusual place, inside are a number of small independent businesses - a tiny pub (with dartboard), ice cream, coffee shop and numerous types of food to name a few.

There was brisk trade and the benches saw constant turnover of people enjoying the food & drink. There are benches outside which I'm sure are more popular during the warmer months.

We had a nice Greek lunch, a gin & tonic from the bar and watched the small crowd for about 30 mins. All very nice.
