I was totally blown away with the service we received at the inn and restaurant! It surpassed my expectation in all areas. The room, the Oakley, was absolutely beautiful. The decor throughout the entire inn was beautiful. The fabrics were high-end and the service was the same. The food is great! We had breakfast and dinner twice. You will not be disappointed. The only drawback was we arrived on Sunday and Monday was a bank holiday, so none of the shops in town were open.

We had a fantastic meal made all the more memorable by our waitress, Karen who was the true star of the show. Her sharp wit and sass kept us entertained. Beware she may pick a particular target to bore the brunt of her (hopefully) playful teasing.

As for the food, we couldn’t fault the roasts—pork, beef, and chicken were all superb, the servings offering great value for money. The roast potatoes were excellent, crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, and the fish and chips were also top-notch. If I was being picky the Yorkshire puddings were a bit dry, but as an Australian, maybe I’m not the best judge of a proper Yorkshire pud.

Desserts were also a definite highlight, with the figgy pudding and stewed plums standing out. Karen enthusiastically sold us the 24-hour caramel croissant bread and butter pudding , which also was a crowd pleaser.

The service was great, with the staff happily accommodating all our requests. However, I think the real reason to come here is Karen. She’s like a roast dinner in human form: warm, a bit crispy, but packs a lot of flavour.
Highly recommend the Lion Inn if you’re ever in Winchcombe.

My lovely boys brought me here for a mothers day dinner and we were not disappointed!!
From the minute we walked in, the staff were attentive and polite.
Karyn, our waitress was exceptional and her attention to detail was faultless. The kids loved how well she interacted with them.
The food was not too long a wait, served hot and most of all, was delicious!
The trio roast was absolutely perfect and the gravy was like liquid gold!
The chocolate fudge brownie was rich and indulgent, but just the right portion size.
It was great value for money, and we will certainly be returning!!
Thanks Karyn for making my already lovely day, even better!

We were greeted upon arrival by a friendly and very helpful lady. The room was delightful. A very comfy bed and great shower. We stayed when a new menu was introduced and what we ordered was delicious. Great service by staff. Breakfast was also the served in the same friendly manner. Loved the smoothie.

Did not use or see the rooms but had an amazing meal and drinks. The owner and staff were amazingly welcoming and friendly as were the locals! As owners of a 22 month old English Springer Spaniel, this Inn welcomes and caters for dogs - with treats, placed along the bar top in sealable jars. We will definitely be "frequenting" again, during our stay and would not hesitate to recommend to family, friends and "others".
Keep up the good work - you are a true representation of what the hospitality industry should look and feel like!

Lovely setting and beautifully appointed pub. Insisted on ordering well in advance for a table for 7 which I found odd - however hoped this would ensure great service on the evening.

Children’s food arrived at the table before any drinks had been delivered, we were assured we could change our pre-orders - however suddenly mains arrived without warning. Second round of drinks were delivered as everyone was finishing their main courses.

Dishes were good - but the dining experience leaves a lot to be desired.

Really lovely staff and dog friendly... Unfortunately the £25 roast was incredibly dry and they literally couldn't have served thinner slices. Looked like it came out of a packet rather than cut off some actual cooked meat.

Winchcombe was not a Cotswolds village I was aware of but is immediately beside Sudeley Castle which was our intended destination for the next day. The Lion really has been beautifully restored and decorated; well worthy of the title of “ boutique”. We ate in the restaurant which was very busy, always a good sign. An unfussy menu but the food and service excellent. Comfortable bed and great shower. Breakfast was substantial and tasty. Parking in the street is possible but much better to use tge substantial car park at rear of hotel, where parking for a DAY is only £4. My only complaint is that, like many hotels now, they have the low voltage, economical lighting in the bedrooms, which make it impossible to read anything; a false economy in my opinion. I am sure we will return.
