There are lots of cafes in Hornsea but this is definitely the best one that we’ve tried. It’s obviously very popular with locals and visitors as it was pretty busy on what was a quite dull day.
The coffee was good and my gluten free chocolate cake was delicious: light, moist and so chocolatey! My husband’s toasted teacake looked so tasty!
There’s seating outside but we opted to sit inside near the bar which gave us a great view of the huge cocktail menu.
Thank you very much to the lovely staff who looked after my backpack-it was an hour before I realised that it wasn’t on my back 🤷‍♀️😹
I am often a solo traveller and would feel very comfortable to visit the Green Owl again.
Highly recommended!

The Green Owl is a cosy, small bar that seems to be quite popular with the locals. I had the shrimp baguette, which was really tasty and well-prepared. Alongside that, I tried the Indian spiced chips, which had great flavour, but unfortunately, they were far too salty for my taste.

Despite that, it’s a nice spot with a friendly vibe, and I’d definitely be interested in coming back to try more from the menu. A good place for a quick bite if you’re in the area

Dropped by for a drink,

My partner got avocado and poached egg on brown toast, looked amazing, and she said it was perfect.

I got a side dish of Halloumi for £5.95, not haopy with the 2 small pieces served and cut in half. To be fair to the staff, he warned us that the portion size was not the best, still... overpriced, and the owners need to reduce that by at least £2.50

All in all, nice, friendly place on the main street.

Lovely food and great atmosphere!
A brilliant place to go for drinks and live music (on almost every weekend on the evenings and some Sunday afternoons).
Food is also amazing from breakfast through to evenings - their mince pies and brandy cream were a lovely treat too!

Just an update to say what a brilliant time we had at the Carnival fundraiser too!

What a lovely pub to visit with the family. A lovely cosy place with kind and helpful staff who welcomed the whole family, including the dog (who got special treats!) Nothing was too much trouble, the food was delicious. Would not hesitate to return when next in the area.

UPDATE: Aug 24. Returned a year later to find the layout has changed. Still a lovely space to visit, bright and airy, dog still welcome. Limited menu but the food was delicious and staff very kind. Lovely to see the chef cleaning down regularly. We look forward to returning again.

I’ve been here before when in town and been impressed with the food offerings. I must say though, the ham sandwich I got for £8.50 last week was a disappointment.

We have eaten here several times in the past, but after posting a promotion of their vegan breakfast as pictured with Irish butter, plus the comment left when I queried it, we won’t be eating here again. As a vegan, all trust is gone.
