On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist with an efficient check in. When learning we had just married she upgraded us to wonderful suite room with elegant decor and a marvelous sea view. Everything about the hotel was stunning, with staff going above and beyond to make our enjoyable. We would certainly come again.

What a lovely hotel. Spacious modern and comfortable. The room was amazing with nice touches. The staff were attentive with nothing being too much. Trish was such a pleasure to deal with as she made our stay 5*. Breakfast was delicious with everything being fresh. Thank you look forward to coming back.

Arrived to stay for 2 nights, it's so good we have booked a third night. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Skye on Reception and felt at ease. Breakfast is superb and Sophie who served us has excellent Customer Services Skills. The bedroom, lounge and bar area are superb with excellent sea views and sunset. We will return very soon. Visited the Golden Lion on Christmas Day for our family Christmas meal and could not have asked for anymore! Amazing food, happy and accommodating staff and truly made our Christmas Day! As a big group they made sure all our food arrived at the same time, was hot and met all the dietary requirements requested. ||Restaurant had a lovely Christmas feel and everyone including the staff were in great spirits, and nothing was too much to ask. ||Thank you all at the Golden Lion for a brilliant Christmas Day dinner! You have brought made this hotel a great place to be in town again and should be very proud! We will be returning!

The hotel has had a fantastic refurbishment & looks great. The staff were friendly & helpful. Our room was fantastic, spacious & modern. Sadly our friends rooms at the same price was much smaller & not of the same quality, this was put down to using Booking.com so I would book direct. The food in the restaurant was excellent quality & good portions so was very surprised by the small breakfast & having to order everything including orange juice which made getting extra a bit awkward. All in all a great stay in a perfect location.

Thank you all the wonderful staff at the Golden Lion Hotel. We arrived Christmas Eve not for Christmas package but for Christmas Dinner and to stay. As we had my Mums home up the road. |The welcome was great smiling faces and very welcoming. Lovely room although quite a climb on stairs but worth it.|Everything you expect in a hotel room lovely biscuits and very clean. |Christmas dinner was a lovely atmosphere and service excellent. No rushing us out. My brother had dietary requirements which he had already discussed before hand. His first course was not as he expected and he could not eat but was soon rectified very quickly. The staff were excellent. |Our stay was great in a smashing hotel, we loved it but what made it was the customer service at Christmas Time.

We popped in for a drink if this refurbished hotel and stayed for lunch. The food was excellent, ploughman's and a ham sandwich. Our waiter was lovely and coping well under a lot of pressure. The bar overlooks the sea and has lovely comfy sofas. They are building a new patio which will be fantastic when it is finished. Highly recommend it.

From the warm, smiling welcome at reception by the young lady who was not only professional but also highly knowledgeable about both the hotel and the local area, to the excellent service we received throughout our visit, everything was spot on.||||This level of service continued with the young gentleman who I believe was managing the floor (Apologies if I’m wrong). Despite it being an extremely busy time, he remained calm, courteous, and consistently happy – a testament to the professionalism of your team. When it comes to dining out, the staff truly make or break the experience, and here, you’ve absolutely got it right.||||As for the food, we had a large table booked and all ordered starters and mains. I must say, everything was impeccable – delivered promptly, all still piping hot, and full of flavor. We genuinely couldn’t fault anything.||||The combination of your exceptional staff and top-notch food really sets you apart. We are already looking forward to returning in the summer & we will certainly be recommending you to all our friends.
