Stayed for 2 night with dinner on first night.
Room was okay. Comfy bed. I feel it felt a bit dirty. Lots of stains of carpet and could do with a vax. Cobwebs around vulux and lamps in bathroom dusty etc. stains around toilet bowl. Need higher cleaning standard.
Dinner was good but not perfect. Wait times between courses was too long. Sirloin meal has tough steak and rock hard swede. Not ideal for. £32 course. Servers were very good.
Breakfast was lovely with 2 course style with smaller portion sizes which I like.
I would come back but maybe to one of the newer rooms as may be fresher and cleaner

We spent two nights staying at the Gin Trap. We stayed in the loft room, which is one of their dog friendly rooms. It was definitely a wow moment when we walked into the room. They had
Considered a lot of extras in the room. Complimentary gins, a doggy pack with poo bags and treats, quality shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, coffee and tea selection, mineral waters and a dog bowl. The room was beautifully clean but was quite compact and if you have a large dog I wouldn’t recommend the size of this room. Fortunately we only had a puppy with us and was able to find space for her crate. The only other factor worth noting about the room is there is a water heater or similar that goes off periodically throughout the night which did wake us a few times.
The pub itself is beautiful. A proper country pub with open fire place and a really cosy and welcoming feeling. Extremely dog friendly and had a community feeling to it.
The food was very good, with a wide selection to choose from for dinner.
Location is brilliant for a range of beautiful beaches and other nice pubs and restaurants.
Breakfast on our first morning felt a bit disjointed. We waited 30 minutes to have our order taken and there were a couple of flickering lights that were quite distracting. When the breakfast came is was exceptional. The second morning was much better, service was prompt and friendly. The lights had been fixed and once again the breakfast was top notch. We enjoyed the fact you could have a starter and a main a choice of coffees and even the dogs were offered sausages.
We would 100% return to eat and to stay, just in a different room.

Had the dog with us so we had the bar menu. We had A parsnip, truffle bacon soup starter. The fish pie, Cumberland sausages and chicken pie for mains. And stick toffee pudding for dessert. It was all very nice, best mash potato I've had. Must have been made with cream and no lumps. The fish pie looked like it was made with fresh fish and not a cheap fix mix. My dad said his chicken pie was the best he'd had in years.

The cabbage the mains came with was amazing, would love to know how the chef made it taste so good.

Will definitely come again.

Had a superb dinner at the Gin Trap Inn. The service was lovely and attentive. The food was incredible. The ambience top notch, with incredible attention to detail, and quality decor and the walls were covered in oil paintings. This is the best restaurant we’ve been to in the surrounding area and would highly recommend, and do book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Just returned from a lovely two night stay here. The Gin Trap is that quintessential English country pub you have been looking for. Rooms, though small were well equipped with a couple of complementary G and T's. Bar had a lovely roaring fire with comfy chairs to recline in. Loads of Gin choices, some or most i hadn't heard of. My one gripe would be the paucity of veggie food on the menu, we had to drive into Hunstanton for our evening meals. We would most definitely stay here again.

Delicious food, was underwhelmed as very limited cocktails, and only fever tree tonic available to go with the nice choice of gins. Service was ok from waiters, but service from the chefs was amazing, bringing us amuse-bouche and a small extra sweet before leaving. Very nice interior design, loved the chairs and the tables.

Have visited the Gin Trap a couple of times over the years, usually because of live music. Decided to have lunch and for £16.68 you get 2 courses which I fantastic value for Norfolk. Both the starters and main course were excellent. We had the cauliflower soap, pate, sausages and pumpkin risotto.

Set in the village of Ringstead, The Gin Trap inn is a cosy farmingesq, dog friendly establishment that offers 12 rooms inc cottages to stay in if you fancy resting your head after a stoll along the surrounding beaches. Even your dog will get a goody bag if you stay.
A mix of Mood industrial and bright lighting  to set the peaceful ambiance. Various rooms to sit in either by the fire, the courtyard or the little snugs, depending on the kind of atmosphere you're after.
The gin trap offers a enclosed garden. Upper and lower. Patio or undercover with lighting and heating and a basket with blankets for keeping snug in the cooler evenings.
Staff are very welcoming and are willing to describe what food is on offer and what they would recommend if youre a first timer. It has a Al a carte and pub menu. Of course I chose from the pub menu.
They suggested the chicken, mushroom and tarragon pie, although quick service, I was a little disappointed when it was served, the portion was tiny, a couple of bites of the pie and it was gone. Complimented by a tablespoon of mash and half a carrot with a jug of gravy that provided a drizzle when poured. However the pie itself had a good crust and was full inside. Taste wise, the pie was bland but the soup of the day which i had for starters was cauliflower and that was flavourful. I chose not to have a dessert due to not being a fan of the four choices. I noticed that the "Gin Trap burger" was selling well and this did look much better, a much bigger meal. Maybe go with that instead
Finesse yes, full no.
