The Dragon is my local watering hole but I’ve never had breakfast here so thought I’d give it a try. Definitely did not disappoint! I had the full English breakfast that came with Butcher's country sausage, bacon, black pudding, hash browns, baked beans, tomato, field mushroom, free range eggs, served with a choice of granary or white farmhouse toast and my partner had the Bacon Maple Pancakes with a couple of hash browns on the side. We both also had a latte, freshly squeezed Orange juice and a smoothie (Blueberry flax) to go along with it.

Overall great experience here at the Dragon and will definitely come back again for another breakfast.

Nice lunch overall. I had the truffle chips which are really nice, hot and good flavour.

Beef sandwich, Ribeye was a bit chewy and overcooked. Chicken club was also quite overcooked.

Good portion size and nice white bread.

Need to have horseradish as option and beef is always served rare, unless you ask for it overdone. Especially when chewy!

Quite pricey for lunch at £15 for a sandwich and fries.

We sat outside and had to put up with several people smoking right next to the table. Disappointing but clearly their selfishness to blame. Also the sheeting is very low and made for midgets, just pretty I confortable. Inside looks much better seating.

Also some poorly controlled kids messing around, outside, running around like it was a playground and not an up market bistro.

Again selfish parents really yo blake. But, staff saw them jumping dangerously off the steps and ignored. Need to cut this out and be firm with guests so everyone is happy.

Beer on tap good and saving staff good overall

Except one barman tried to fill the pint glass with ice for a diet coke max. Need to recognise 3 or 4 cubes and a slice is the perfect ratio in a pint glass. He seemed surprised when I asked him to stop, as he was about to pour and lose most of the ice.

This is shameless profiteering and embarrassing when you are trying to give a 1/2 pint of a soft drink.

So mixed overall but worth a try with caveats?

Nice location and lots of good points to this pub, but need a few tweaks for a 5 star review.

Had a lovely meal at The Dragon the food was good quality. It had a lovely atmosphere full of friendly staff and customers. It is also dog friendly which worked really well for us. Jess our dog enjoyed all the attention she got. She was given her own bowl of water and there were dog biscuits on the bar too.

A really great place right by the canal side and lots of outdoor seating. Super clean and tidy with lots of choice both on the menu and range of drinks available - lots of parking available and disabled access ok. Dog friendly in the covered outside patio area but no smiling / vaping there

What a lovely breakfast.

The wife treated me to a champagne breakfast as part of my birthday celebrations. The food was superb, great portions too. The waiting staff were superb and I think it must have been the manager/supervisor who was wonderful and in chatting she found out it was my birthday and decided to do something special for me which you can see in the pictures provided.

Fantastic morning, we'll be back for sure.

Have never been here before, but it’s local and allows dogs, so I took my mother to the dragon for breakfast. Absolutely fantastic breakfast, one of the best I have ever had. Beautiful inside, comfortable and inviting. I can’t wait to return for an evening meal. Very friendly staff, especially our server Fern who was so polite and brought us coffee, juice and our breakfast in no time! So thank you.

The pub itself is lovely - very spacious and decorated nicely. Food was fantastic my steak was cooked to perfection and despite there being a huge party in close to us we didn’t wait long at all! Breakfast in the morning was delicious and for the price you couldn’t fault anything. We stayed in the adjoining cottages and that was also lovely 🙂 we will definitely be back!
