Ordered food as i witnessed the plated gold they were bringing out for others. I was not disapointed. All the staff were so happy and welcoming it got me excited about the food and my time here very nice regulars, and the randoms that came in (like me) left with a smile. Very clean toilets clean bars and tables. Very nice ye olde interior alot of history. Thank you !

We had a private function at the chequers this weekend, we could not thank them enough, they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy! Everyone loved the decor! It's such a perfect pub. Thank you

Great local pub, always with a great atmosphere. Low ceilings and great selection of beer makes for good times every time! UPDATE - despite living in the town for over 20 years I went to the Chequers for lunch for the first time. Now my goto place for an excellent value and tasty lunch. My son had a jacket potato (less tha £5!) And I had a ploughmans (£7.50). Really gutted I hadn't tried this sooner.

Went for my neices 21st, staff were friendly, fast serving and always went the extra mile to make sure we were happy, highly recomend. . Great atmosphere too

Just popped in for a drink and ordered a sandwich which was really good, fresh and well presented. Went back a week later and had another nice lunch. The staff are very friendly and we felt very welcome. Great pub will definitely call again
