My friend and I spent the afternoon in The Catherine wheel today. We both had the paella which was so delicious and plenty of it then the bread and butter pudding for dessert which was also really nice, although for my personal taste I would have preferred it a little sweeter. The service was excellent and we felt very welcome. The pub was warm and cosy which was needed on a very cold day.

Nice pub, good ales and pints. Decent beer garden and dogs welcomed. WiFi also available if you want some quiet space for a spot of work. Amazing succulents growing on rooftop

A gorgeous traditional ‘old world’ pub. The building is so charming, it must be 200 years old. The menu is very interesting, with Spanish tapas and fresh paella, as well as high quality wood fired pizzas and of course all the pub classics. The garden out the back is absolutely darling and catches the afternoon sun perfectly.

This pub deserves 6 stars. Excellent Sunday roasts, great outdoor space, fantastic vibe and friendly staff. I really enjoyed my time here.

Unfortunately a disappointment. The service was very friendly but unfortunately the food was very bad. Had it not been for being very hungry after a 30k hike, I would have not eaten it. The calamari rings were probably amongst the worst I've ever had. No taste and pretty sure they were not fresh. The burger was ok though.

Edit: after leaving this review I got a very unpleasant response about how badly this review impacts the business. Wow! You serve bad food and you want me to be positive about it?! Ok, so here's my updated review: avoid this place. Go to the pub around the corner.

If you think my response is harsh, just have a look at some of the other responses that dared to criticize things.

If you can't take customer feedback, find a new profession. I know what I'm talking about. I've been in this industry for over 20 years. Your response is embarrassing!

We were visiting Goring so popped in to the Catherine Wheel just after lunch to check out the menu, the young lady at the bar was so welcoming and told us about the Spanish chef they have and the wonderful tapas so we booked in for an evening meal to celebrate our anniversary. The tapas was absolutely delicious. My husband loves pizza and said this was the best pizza he'd ever had. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were so friendly and the service was fantastic. I'd definitely return.

I bought first round on xmas eve, so cost me an extra £14,for plastic glasses n compulsory donation to charity. - we, only wanted one drink, wdnt have been so bad if we had been there all nite - wasn't impressed.
