Located right in the centre of High Bentham, this is a good pub to stop for a drink.
The lady behind the bar was really lovely and friendly.
Had to pay over ÂŖ5 to pay on card which wasn't a problem for us, just something to note.
We played pool here one night which was fun. The table is small and the cues weren't the best but we didn't mind for 50p a game!
We ate lunch here one day and it was ok. I got the small plate scampi and fries. I think I got about 7 pieces of scampi but an absolute mountain of chips. It would have been nicer to have more scampi and less chips. My boyfriend got the tuna baguette which he enjoyed. That came with a few chunky chips which wasn't stated on the menu, but a nice surprise I guess.
All in all, not a bad little boozer.
Oh and the Guinness was spot on!

Located in the centre of High Bentham offering Accommodation, Food and Quality Beers.
Had the pleasure of dining for a traditional Sunday lunch. Choice of 3 roasts. We choose the lamb and the beef. Meat was cooked to perfection and plenty of it, opted to take the Cauliflower cheese as an extra which was well worth it. Homemade Yorkshire Pudding, pure quality throughout.
Highly recommended.

After a lovely walk with my dog Amelia Lilly
We popped into the lovely pub for lunch. It was my dogs 10th birthday today! So the chefs made Amelia Lilly sausage. I had scampi and chips, really delicious. Thanks to the fabulous staff for making Amelia and myself welcome..

Arrived at 10pm on a Monday night whilst doing the 1000 mile Bristol-Glasgow-Bristol audax bike ride and running low on food. They weren't serving food but the landlord made me a huge cheese sandwich from his own kitchen and I ate this watching the Euro game chatting with the very friendly locals. Just what a great pub should be - fed, watered and entertained me! I was the only person to finish the ride this year and I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't been so well looked after here.

Four of us were staying in the area, called into the bar for Sunday lunch (13/08/23) wasn't disappointed. Food was lovely, good value, staff friendly. Will definitely return next time we're up that way. Dog friendly also.

Went here for a drink and lunch. Friendly service, good food. Well set up for social distancing.

Had a delicious burger with chips and onion rings here. Delicious, freshly made, served with a smile.

I used to be here with my kids every week for a meal. Always made to feel welcome.

It's a great location for going on walks and driving to the Lake District

Visited on Saturday night for a meal with hubby & dog. Able to sit inside with her & she was offered a bowl of water & a dog treat! Reasonably priced, good food & generous portions & the beer was good too. Good service & the staff were friendly & approachable.
They have the balance between catering for locals & catering for tourists which was nice to see.
Would definitely come back!

We stayed here as we were attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, which starts about 20 mins drive away.||||We checked in at the bar and straight away were made to feel welcome by Carol, who then asked her daughter to help show us to our room (Rm 3). However, she said there was no rush, we could just let her know when we were ready.||||Room 3 is a family room and was lovely - perfect for us to offload all our kit and get ourselves ready for an early start the next morning. The bathroom is huge, but overlooks the courtyard below, so don't go walking round starkers with the windows wide open on a hot summer's day.... :-D||||We chose to eat in the pub that night, and it's always a bit of a gamble when you haven't read any reviews, or seen any food being served. However, a table near us ordered wraps and they looked amazing, so we took the punt - and boy were we glad we did. I opted for the steak and my wife chose the fish pie. My plate was loaded with steak, salad, mushrooms, tomatoes and a bowl of chips on the side, which were to die for (proper triple cooked, not the 'just warmed up again' triple cooked chips that so many places serve up). The fish pie was loaded with tasty fish and plenty of side veg. My only slight grumble is that I asked for my steak to be cooked rare, and this was bordering well done, but it was a thin steak, so difficult to achieve - it tasted amazing though.||||The following day we set off early (5:15am), so missed breakfast. When we got back later that day (after walking 24 miles across hills in 33 degree heat), just in time to catch the dinner service, we ordered pizza and sides of brie and halloumi fries. I mistakenly ordered the 14" pizza (I was ravenous), and it was blummin massive! Cooked brilliantly, served on a proper pizza stone, just what we needed.||||The following morning we were leaving, but managed to get breakfast before we set off, and it most certainly didn't disappoint - all cooked perfectly, plentiful portions and amazing value for money.||||Carol and her daughters always serve with a smile, and genuine warmth that so many places fail to provide.||||If we ever find ourselves up that way again, we'll definitely be paying another visit.||||Thank you Carol and everyone.
