Got some extra RAM and an SSD upgrade for my 2012 Mac Mini. Was going to drop £1500 on getting a new MacBook Pro and I'm SO glad I took my trusty old Mac Mini to these guys first. A good price on the parts and labour and now the thing runs brilliantly. 2x HD monitors up. 6/7 apps running at once and huge spreadsheets and some code - no problem for this new beast! Also good from an environmental perspective to be upgrading an old computer rather than just buy a new flashy one. Thanks guys. Great job.

In response to Steve Grice. I am sorry you had problems with your computer after we put in a much faster Solid State Drive- it seemed to be running fine after the service. I am also sorry I was difficult about taking it back to a Hard Drive which we have always found to be much slower. I think there may be an underlying problem - possibly due to the age of the machine - I seem to remember it was a 2010 one which is really quite old for these - so there could be several age related problems. If you still have not resolved the problem you are welcome to bring it in and we will take another look at the problem with no charge for the diagnostic.

Well what can I say. These people put a new solid state hard drive in for me, the I took the Mac home to try it and it was no better, still slow, beach spinning and spinning so I called Tantra back. Peter, who tends to loose his temper quite easily (not good for customer relations) said its not their fault it still doesn't work, bring it back we will have another look but will have to charge me. Having already parted with £250 plus I decided to take it to another repair centre in Keynsham. The guy there asked for the old hard drive and when he tested it it said 100% ok! So I paid £250 to replace something that was ok. Not Good, and still the beach ball spins and spins and spins. Who can I try next? Is there anybody in Bristol that knows what they are doing with Macs? So to date this has cost me £330, a new hard drive, doubled the memory card space and still slow as hell.

They were so clear and helpful about what I needed and managed to turn around my macbook service and upgrade in superfast time. Oh and they cleaned it so it looks like new. Everything works perfectly and it's running fast and fluidly again. Many Thanks, I've sped through my work today without having to navigate glitches.

Well, I just read the review by Mr Grice below and I have had a similar experience with Tantra - similar but exactly opposite! My replacement solid state drive that Tantra installed has sped up my old MacBook Pro immensely. I've bought many computers from Pete and his team since 2000 and have yet to find anybody as helpful or understanding elsewhere. The fact that Mr Grice couldn't get his new supplier to solve the problem either suggests to me that the issue is complex and may not easily be solved by just upping the speed of the HDD. I took the trouble to read his other reviews and he rates the new supplier very high indeed despite his not being able to fix it either - just goes to show that reviewers are fickle I suppose. Perhaps he should take it to, erm, The Apple Store - good luck with that ;-). And no, Tantra didn't ask for my opinion; I independantly came across these reviews whilst browsing Google maps and it seems a shame that a great local business is bad-mouthed by one reviewer.

When the screen went blank on my MacBook Pro, and after I'd tried everything the internet suggested, I went to Tantra.

After the initial phone conversation, I dropped in within half an hour and Rob (I think?) dropped tools and helped me straightaway.
After some rapid diagnostics, he had the back off within 5 minutes and had reconnected an (invisibly loose) cable and fixed the problem.

My IMac died.. like really died! Spoke to apple for an hour and together we couldn’t get it started. Called Tantra and dropped it off on the Tuesday, and had a call to say it could be collected on the Thursday. All data recovered and saved to an external hard drive! And for a lot less than Apple would have charged. Cannot thank these guys enough for everything, will definitely use them again. Thanks #TeamTantra x

My recent experience with this outfit has been a TOTAL disaster!!
Not worth ANY stars!!**!! Having put my Mac in for routine work and in good faith paid on collection I subsequently discovered they had made a complete mess of my hard drive - lost 1800 files - Completely wiped my external hard drive.
No apology or despite my request, no refund of my invoice costs.
Countless hours and additional cost with other Mac engineers trying to sort this.
My Photoshop files completely messed up - at least I wasn't charged for this.
Use these people at your peril.
