We pulled in around 20 min ago to get petrol but it seems you were closed there was a member of staff there but as soon as they saw us pull in they disappeared.

My partner went to the night pay window to find out if you were no longer open. He knocked on the glass and tried for a few minutes to find the disappearing staff member to no avail.
During this time another 2 cars attempted to pull in for petrol but when my partner could not get a staff members attention they drove off and we closely followed.

In future if your station is closed please get your staff members to not hide from customers and let us know that you are closed.

Approx 45 minutes ago I popped into the shop. Got my bits & bobs and went to pay. There was no one there. The young lad eventually came out of the back talking on his mobile phone.

He was looking towards the door so I put my hands out to get his attention. He literally jumped in fright, clearly had no idea that there was anyone in the store.

I casually said "it's a good job I'm not a shoplifter" He rudely retorted "I'm entitled to a break you know"

I stated that there was no need to be so rude and I was pointing out that I could have taken what I wanted and he would have been non the wiser.

I was met with a little rant about how I had only been there for a minute (It was longer and given that he didn't know anyone was there, absolute rubbish) and that I had put my arms out. (Not sure why that was relevant at all).

I said I would explain it to his manager instead. He said "do it" and continued an inaudible rant as I walked out the shop.

I regularly stop here for fuel and snacks on my way to Durham for work as its extremely convenient but I'll not be back now. The wait hadn't particularly bothered me but I didn't expect an argument with the staff for wanting to pay for items.

So, it's a 1 star from me, purely for the customer service. The shop itself is actually quite canny with a good selection of items.
