Excellent Fish and Chips!

I had cod and chips and it was lovely! Nice and crispy batter and chips, not too greasy!

Very nice staff too as you’ll see from my photos 😂

Would give more stars if I could. Generous portions, cheap, tastes great. One guy even followed me out because I forgot my drink. Easily the best. They're friendly and fun and I like them.

This place used to deliver delicious fish and chips but has gone dramatically down hill, the portions have shrivelled as the price has dramatically grown. The ‘Large Fish’ was a crumbled greasy pile of batter with a tiny slither of crispy inedible fish inside for £12. I phoned to complain and was met by a loud man not listening and talking over me, disputing that there was any problem at all. He told me that he may ‘stop doing GF altogether!’, which had nothing to do with anything I was trying to resolve. I asked for his number to send images, which he gave me, when he saw the image he agreed it wasn’t great and made excuses, but offered to deliver another fish which I accepted. The fish never arrived. No refund. Nothing. Appalling and shockingly dishonourable behaviour. When we first moved to the area we were Smarts Fish and Chips regular customers and have been treated appallingly. Needless to say, we will be ordering from ‘Off the Hook’ in Long Hanborough in future, they supply delicious fish and chips, a fairly sized portion for a reasonable price. I advise you do the same.

Everything was cold, including the curry flavoured broth!

I don't believe it was cooked during the half hour before delivery!

Went here for fish n chips at lunch. The place was clean and tidy the staff friendly.

Ordered a large chips and a fish cake, very quick service and the food was excellent; the chips were very good indeed!

Outdoor seating available if you order from the takeaway but they also have an attached restaurant as well, if you prefer to sit in and eat.

Based on this visit I’d certainly recommend if you want anything fish n chip style, they also do burgers, chicken meals and more.

I'm a local community bus driver and I use Smart's in Witney Market Square all the time for my coffees and food.

The food is very good and freshly made and I particularly like the coffee because it's piping hot and keeps me going in my flask for the whole morning! The portions are very generous and served with a smile 🙂

Mustafa and Fernanda and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming and I really feel like part of the family at Smart's.

Worst kebab ever. Dry,burnt meat that took 20mins to 'make'. The rotisserie wasn't on but thought ok benefit of the doubt. She turned it on. Then shaved off bits and cooked them on the hot plate. Ordered a large but half of it was given to a staff member, so challenged the staff saying it's a tiny portion compared to the local kebab, so she added more, then cooked to a crisp. Pitta bread is stale. Haddock's batter was disgusting, super thick and greasy but luckily it protected the fish inside. Chips were okay. Oh and all came in polystyrene - bad for the environment just to top it off. Will never go back again. Ate around the meat and threw it into the food waste bin. Back to the chippy on Madley Park, and Kebab on Station Lane. 1* for the chips and inside of the fish. Waste of money! Time and money waste, thanks Smarts!!
