I wouldn’t recommend these at all.

Some of the issues seem to be common with all installation companies. You go through the process of giving them all the information, you are forced to pay up front, and only then do you get told the installation date.

In this case, the installation date was almost a month away.

Octopus ended up being cheaper and could be installed within 2 weeks.

When I tried to cancel with Smarthomecharge, they stung me with £55 cancellation fee and tried to charge me £15 to collect the charger, even though I hadn’t received it.

They charge you if the DNO notification has been sent, but they send the notification before you have any idea of the installation date.

I get that I am partially to blame, as the terms and conditions stated this, but it seems very underhanded. Clearly, it's just a way to get money off of people for nothing.

It is worth noting that Octopus and others don’t practice such underhanded tactics.

They sub-contract eletricians. The one they did, besides doing a super bad install at first, they also drilled trough my soil pipe. Mind you, this was 6 months ago. It took them over 3 months to come and repair the soil pipe (and its still leaking). The wall is still not plastered or fixed. Smart home charge seems to not care at all, not answering to emails. Making me deal with the eletricians they sub-contracted, when I paid Smart Home Charge, not the eletrician. Here I am, 6 months after, with still a destroyed wall, and the eletricians are telling me they are waiting on insurance. Smart home charge doesn't even answer my emails anymore.

Pay a bit extra and go with a proper company.

Good communication from the point of ordering.
Didn’t have to wait too long for an install (under 2 weeks).
The technician Ollie was very friendly and professional. He made a great job of the installation, it was very neat and tidy. He thoroughly explained the product, and ran me through the app for the charger as well.
Very good all round.

Dreadful experience with charger arriving not as described and multiple parts missing.
Customer service is atrocious between the office and installation teams, with communication to customers coming in a firm last place.
Needed two installer visits and still ended up finishing it myself.
Do yourself the biggest favour and look elsewhere for a professional company who will supply and install with no problems.

Fantastic service from start to finish, highly recommend! Lots of charger options to easily compare on site and excellent comms post booking about different stages of installation. Engineer was trackable on the day, polite, speedy install and considerate cleaning up after himself 🙂

Wallbox Pulsar Plus purchased and fitted through Smart Home Charge. From their informative videos, through buying, to it being fitted and applying for the OLEV grant, they could not have been more helpful.
The whole process takes a few weeks though, partly due in my case to the unit being out of stock because of high demand. But I was kept informed throughout.
Fitting was excellent, by a pleasant gentleman (Paul), who clearly took pride in his work.
Overall, one of the best companies I have had dealings with in a long time.

Our EV charge point was installed during covid-19 lockdown measures. So it was unusual circumstances but we were pleased with communication about the installation and also the install itself. The engineer communicated 1 week before the install and arrived as planned with all equipment required. All work was external to our property so it was possible to maintain a social distance from the engineer. It took a few hours and the engineer confirmed working order with us before he left.
Only follow up required was set up of the App which was a little more tricky but SmartCharge were able to guide me

I’m very pleased with my Ohme Home Charger installation. I needed a special solution with an online meter to split business/personal electricity charges for my company car. Smart Home Charge were able to provide the charger I wanted with the metering solution I needed.

The whole process from start to finish was slick and efficient, from order placement, to OLEV grant application, to installation.

The installation was completed in a few hours with minimal fuss, and the engineer left the area clean and tidy.
