Ah, I see from some previous reviews, that I am not alone, with experiencing rude service from the manager. This individual's name is Paul. When I attempted to ask advice, Paul was, sullen, unfriendly, unhelpful, and displayed astonishing levels of indifference. Thankfully, the other two members of staff were very helpful.

Means some friends decided to go for look dog toys for our dogs, we all have dogs however, within two minutes of entering the shop, we were approached by an elderly looking female staff member Asking what we were looking For I responded dog toys A couple of my friends were facing the other way looking at the other toys for humans. And she snarkily told them that the dog toys are on the other side and pointed at them despite it being clear they knew where they were but wanted to browse other stock. She then walked off, but a couple minutes later, she came back asking us if we found what we were looking for I responded with no, we're taking our time as you replied in a snarky, unnecessary and rude tone oh I can see that . This made me and my friends uncomfortable and also puy a damper on our trip and makes us hesitate to come back and buy more dog toys despite liking the one we bought. Normally I'd chalk it up to a bad day but this is the second time it happened and the last time she implied that we need to leave without giving us a chance to look and buy despite the fact we were discussing which toys to buy. The only reason she did not do a similar thing to the first time was cause we stuck up for ourselves and asked if there was a problem with us taking our time, this was a very negative trip and I would like to hope that someone speaks to this member of staff that young people who have caused no trouble don't deserve to be spoken to like that just because we are young (despite the fact we are all almost adults and the 3 out of the 4 of us had our college IDs to prove this), it was very disheartening to be treated like that because of our age , the staff member was polite and kind to other customers when she took a break from staring at us despite not being suspicious or doing anything wrong in either situation, for example when I grabbed my wallet from my bag I put the toy far away from me to avoid the mistake that I was putting in my bag. She stared at me as she walked past while I was doing it. Sorry this is so long however it was a big issue for us wanting to return

Horrific experience with the Manager today, the rude Irish man as it would seem from some of these reviews has a reputation.
I use the DHL service most weeks in the Witney store and the lady who normally assists me is absolutely fantastic, she goes above and beyond. The manager today was rude, arrogant, controlling and lacked any professionalism or indeed manners. I am appalled that the organisation of Robert Dyas allows this kind of bad service! I have spent hundreds of pounds possible thousands on the service there and no longer will I set foot in that store whilst under his Management. The area manager should take account of this man’s terrible controlling attitude and do something about it. You could feel the tension today in the store, he obviously creates an atmosphere with his members of staff and it’s not at all a pleasant environment to enter. Very upset by this experience and I would like an apology from the Area Manager, it’s not good enough.

Firstly, before I start my own review. To ‘David F’ below ... I am afraid it’s YOU who has inadequate knowledge of consumer rights and trading standards. Without a receipt as proof of purchase a retailer is obligated to do nothing. The fact that the store manager has used his discretion to give you the opportunity to produce and bank statement (not usually considered proof of purchase) undermines your argument that he was unhelpful. You clearly have just not got your own way and are lashing from behind your keyboard. Well done.

On to my own experience ... first rate. I use several Robert Dyas stores on a regular basis as I travel with my job so don’t really have a ‘local’ branch. The Witney branch has always been one of my favourites since I first used it approx 2 years ago. Staff are very knowledgeable and always keen to help. The shop is very aesthetically pleasing. Neat, tidy and well merchandised. The management team (names escape me but an Irish gentleman and younger girl) are superb. Always visible on the shop floor and approachable for both customers and their own staff.

As others have reported the manager in this store is very unhelpful and has inadequate knowledge of consumer rights. He refused to replace a faulty item - a pair of gloves which, once opened, turned out to both be left-handed - without a receipt. Instead he instructed me to come back with a card statement. Even when I showed him the relevant consumer rights regulations on the Which website, he still refused, referring me to their own T&Cs notice in the shop.

The lady shopstaff cannot do enough for you, they are great front of house ambassadors.
But, the Irish guy needs to go on a customer service refresher course. He is almost rude when you ask him anything, his attitude is awful ....he will loose you business.

We called here to buy some appliances for our new kitchen, We had only been inside the shop about a minute when we were approached by a very rude (Irish accented) supervisor, who berated my heavily pregnant wife for not wearing a mask in the shop. When she asked him why he was not wearing one himself, he replied that he is a supervisor and does not have to. My wife then asked him to move further away so that we could leave the shop, he refused and stood less than a meter away from her in the narrow aisle, insisting that there was enough room for her to pass.
We squeezed past him and left, with him following and still berating my wife all the way to the exit.
We then went to the Argos in Sainsbury's and spent the £475 we had intended spending here.

Worst shopping experience ever. Returned a faulty kettle still under guarentee. The Manager was rude, abusive and did not know the law regarding faulty goods. When asked for his name, as he had no name badge on, he refused. How can Robert Dyas employ people of this nature. Always shop at an outlet that appreciates your custom.
