Great book selection closely tailored to the poetic and the therapeutic. Lovely muffin and uniquely served tea. Would get another star for greater food variety. The muffin was the lot.

If you like words or poetry in a tranquil environment - this place is a must to visit. A beautiful shop with an amazing range of books and book-related products. I love the poetry as prescription idea. Friendly staff who let you browse without bothering you! Lovely little cafe too, with a great range of coffees, teas and cake. Wish I lived nearer (I live in Wiltshire) as I'd be in there a lot.

“The Poetry Package” - a collaboration between The Castle Hotel and Poetry Pharmacy.

As someone that has a creative writing degree and loves a UK staycation, this package felt like it was made for me! But what did the package entail whilst at the Poetry Pharmacy…

We then took a very short walk out across the square to the Poetry Pharmacy for a half hour poetry consultation with Deborah Alma.

After my consultation, I was prescribed ‘Wild Remedy’ - some wonderful poems to encourage me to get outdoors more as it’s very much my happy place. The very lovely Deborah, the Emergency Poet, even challenged me to take my poems our into the wilderness to fully appreciate them which I can’t wait to do.

There is the very wholesome option of heading out into the Poetry Physic Garden and the writing hut, which is stocked with supplies for making herbal infusions picked from the garden itself, but as it was mid-winter I opted for a coffee and flapjack in the adjoining coffee shop! Was just a little warmer! We then perused the shelves of the many incredible books where I had to repeatedly remind myself of my book buying ban as my TBR pile is taller than me!

This place is flawless! A fantastic, eclectic book collection - I could have bought ten books no problem. The Pharmacy theming makes it interesting and the cafe next doot is icing on the cake.
We had a very early visit when the shop opened and after bbrowsing, went 'for a coffee'. All teas & coffees freshly brewed in cool flasks. The cups/saucers are pretty. I had the 'Barrett Browning' blend which was nice and not-bitter for someone who loves the smell of Coffee but tends to leave more than half of it.
Staff are wonderful
Perfect!
