I walked past this place twice, the second time to do a double take on the baked goods in the window as they looked delicious!

I don't normally like pork pies but I ended up getting a cheese and pickle topped pork pie, which was still warm from the oven, and it was absolutely delicious. It was just want I needed before a steep climb up Cave Dale.

Lots of other treats and freshly baked snacks, as well as locally made ice cream, to indulge in.

The staff were really friendly and, despite a long queue, I was served quickly.

An excellent bakery found on the main road through Castleton, just past the S bend.
Inside there are confectionery items , some very unusual ones too.
A section of chocolates, and fresh cakes.
Behind the counter you will find a massive board with choices on for baguettes to take away.
It's one of the biggest selections I've ever seen.
They were made within 5 minutes and were very tasty !!
If this place is busy, this is the reason why.
Its very popular for a reason !!
Definitely recommended.

An undiscovered gem of a place

I only had a few minutes here before the bus left across the road. Next time I go to Castleton, I will make time to be here.

It’s one of those little stores you find in the best villages, that have a little bit of everything, and is there to sell what is needed by the locals. it feels like a place where the staff enjoy being.
I had a bakewell slice and a sausage roll, and they were so worth it. You get a lot of quality for the money, especially compared to bigger supermarket food. Really tasty, filling, and just what you need after a day hiking up along the great ridge in the snow

If you go, the wifi signal is bad, so transactions can take a little longer than normal via card, but the lovely girl who was staffing it when I went, is really patient, and explains the issue.

Cute little shop with tons to snack on as well as gifts. Cold packages sandwiches and a variety of drinks on shelves. They even have a working bakery that brings out fresh pasty’s, sausage rolls and more. A good variety of sweets, cakes, chocolates, and even liquor. Stopped in here because we were a little hungry and were surprised at home much was inside this little store. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Picked up two Pasty’s and two slices of cake...absolutely delicious!

Had perhaps the best pork pie ever, with the possible exception of one in Richmond, Yorks. I went for the plain one. No point messing with a classic. Freshly baked, with crispy pastry, tasty filling and just the right amount of jelly. Perfection.

Excellent village shop/bakery (pork & stuffing cob was super). Wide variety of breads, pies and sandwiches. Excellent stop off for walking supplies.

This place has the most amazing cakes and pastries 🥧 I've ever had. Fully recommend, the staff are so friendly and serve with a smile. It's now my must go to when visiting the Peaks.

I visit especially for the cheesy bread. It is without a doubt the best loaf I have eaten. There are very few made per day so it is an art form to catch them whilst they are in. Well worth a visit. Very friendly staff, great produce much of which is from local sources and there is always a great bakery it’s, for a nice day out in the peaks. The cheesy bread really is the best!
