I bought a used pickup, less than 30 miles up the road after collecting the vehicle the engine management light came on. I returned to the garage to have the issue looked at. I spent my morning waiting to get sorted out and back on the road. I enquired about the fuel situation to put it back to the same level as the deal we had shaken hands on the previous day (as I had now lost half a day waiting around, quarter of a tank of fuel and not even left the garage yet) - to be told that’s it wasn’t their problem. Very disappointing as it’s less than quarter of a tank, so around £30 worth of fuel. I’m not upset about the value, having just spent £33,000 on the vehicle. It’s the principle of the matter, had I been a difficult customer and kicked up a fuss I’m sure they would have sorted it but I feel they took advantage of my good nature.

It’s a shame from a customer service point of view as I’m happy with the vehicle and like to think I would have used them again in the future but the principle of the matter, I won’t be returning. In my opinion, too sales driven to try and upsell aftercare rather than putting the requirements of the customer first.

Shocking service! Went in 6 day's ago with the intention of buying one of two vehicles.
Was not asked to sit down,not offered a cup of tea ,told them we'd driven an hour and a half asked for a valuation on our car a four year old very clean and tidy VW with 23000 on the clock.' we have your details well let you know.' Asked to see a vehicle on the forecourt that was £30k+ dents rust and fresh hole where a sensor should be. Asked to see the other vehicle 'it's in our prep centre, will do a walk around video and send it to you this afternoon. 'Six days not a phone call not a video not any pictures,no valuation for our car. Crickets! Couldn't get us out fast enough. No other customers there at the time we were there either!
Two friends also looking for vehicles were thinking of using them,not now! Disgusted.at their attitude and practice. Will definitely not be recommending Ottervale motors to anyone.

Just back from a 650 mile round trip to collect my new Golf GTI. Always nerve wracking sitting for 5.5 hours on trains in the faith that the car is going to be as described, and it was! Great dealership, Tia collected me from the station and the whole process was completely straight forward. Lovely to deal with and the process took no more than a couple of days. They’d done a great job of the prep too (particularly inside).. and I’m a Detailer! Cheers guys 🙏🏻

Great service from Shaun when buying our truck.

HOWEVER……

The truck has a design fault where the radar continually stops working. The company has effectively washed there hands of the problem, and blamed it on my “usage” letting dirt into the sensor behind the bumper. This 4X4 vehicle has never left the road!!!!

Many other people experience the same issues.

The after sales staff are rude, sexist and arrogant.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received from a garage. I bought a Navara that overheated after a few weeks, I returned it twice for repair which they insisted had been completed but ultimately a couple of weeks later it failed and destroyed the engine.
I was told it was head gasket failure but walked into their workshop to see my engine spread around a bench in bits, totalled.

They promised to find me a like for like replacement, after waiting approximately 2 months and them not being able to find a replacement I insisted on a refund. Miraculously the next day they found a replacement vehicle but wanted a further £2800.

After waiting for a week for my refund and not receiving it and being given all manor of excuses I had to make a complaint to Black Horse. That then led their sales manager “Shaun the snake” to try and coerce me into removing my complaint by saying they’d refund me sooner if we did. I stuck with my complaint and received a compensation from Black Horse due to the appalling service and failure of the vehicle.

Nothing but false promises and outright lies, truly disgusting service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARAGE!
