Lovely place for a run. Can be busy with walkers and dogs at times, but then there are days you rarely cross paths with anyone. The cafe is also a nice place for a coffee or a snack.

Absolutely beautiful nature reserve, and I visit frequently.
I like to walk as far as the sea but usually take long, tough terrain routes to get there (to end up at the beach at Horden).

There are no bins once inside, so please be considerate and bring along your own bags to dispose of your own rubbish.

Be careful when navigating through, too. It's very easy to end up lost. Yesterday when I was there two young girls were lost and they had to follow us out to get to the car park.

There is a toilet in the car park but this was closed by the time we got back to the car (around 6.30 pm). Parking is free of charge.

It's absolutely stunning. There is so much to see and explore once inside that you will never want to leave, and if you do, you will forever return!

A beautiful nature reserve. Paths can be hilly and rough underfoot.

My favourite seasons to visit the Dene are in Spring and Autumn. In spring the woodland floor becomes a mass of flowering garlic. In autumn the tree leaves turn into an impressive display of red, orange and brown colours.

Beautiful, peaceful winter walk from the lodge to the meadow after a quick stop for a hot chocolate at the cafe to keep warm. The path was a little icy in some places due to the freezing temperatures but safe with the right footwear.

Enjoyable couple of hours.
Free parking, well signposted, 2 different set out tracks to follow for novices.
Some gradients can be very demanding for beginners & the unfit!

Fantastic walk! Very good paths. The main one is with hard surface. Great old yew trees. With nice sunshine playing among young leaves looks like from fairy tale (only problem is that fairies are missing as probably they are busy playing with unicorns)
At the bottom of the path there is a huge viaduct (try to play with your own voice echoing under it) and a lovely meadow full of flowers.

1st time visiting here, its a lovely Walk, though very isolated within the woods, the 2 path walks are not very well sign posted within the woods and the information board could do with renewing as its very well worn. We stumbled across both walks and got lost on both of them ha! The paths however are well maintained but not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs as it very hilly in places (unless you want a seriously good workout 😜) There is a small free car park with toilets and a small cafe on site.
