Based close to the end of the High Peak trail. Picnic tables with sunshades outside. Nice shop with small gifts. My only criticism would be the machine where you get your drinks from in a paper cup. I prefer proper ceramic cups. I didn't see any food except chocolate and snacks.

Check the notice board for when the pump is in steam. It's great. Cash or card for parking charged. Nice little cafe/shop. Dogs welcome inside. Trough outside for muddy paws and drinking water.

Excellent place to visit the superbly preserved steam engine that was used on the incline. Engineering of the building and the engine is fantastic. Very knowledgeable volunteers on hand to show you round and explain the workings of the winding house. Engine wasn't running when I visited unfortunately but its hopefully going to be back in service in September.

Often ride the Tissington and Monsal trails, but do not often venture over to the High Peak trail. Went over to Middleton Top last weekend, but we were both surprised by the high charge (£7) for a days parking (to the extent that we didn't buy a cup of tea to compensate). Parsley Hay and other car parks along the trail are currently less than £5, and this fee should reduce to reflect that. We have paid less than that £7 in 3 Forestry England car parks recently and even the FE car parks that charge a little more, have much better facilities.

Nice little cafe and visitors centre, we did the Tissington trail, then at Parsley Hay headed to Middleton Top. A really great ride of approx 25 miles one way in stunning surroundings.
