If you’re local or in the area, this small zoo will have you walking away feeling proud to have experienced what a British zoo is all about. The owners are front and centre, the staff are all animal lovers, and happy to talk to you and share their knowledge.

We’ve been to the big zoo’s, which is like going to a big theme park. You see a lot, although learn little. We had a party of five, and spent a good three hours there, talking to the keepers, seeing the animals up close and watching a young ‘zoo-keeper for the day’, get used as a climbing frame for meerkats, stroke them and make them laugh, before feeding skunks in the next hour. We fed otters, learnt about animal group dynamics and bought some well priced gifts from the shop, at sensible prices, including coffee o the way in. It looks small, it’s not, it’s boutique. I’d visit again to see how the animals have developed and learn more about the work they’re doing to make sure their guests are looked after and cared for in the most sympathetic way they can.

Thank you all for sharing your work with us and spending the time to talk to us about the animals and their stories. X

Had a really enjoyable day here! The staff were very informative and had great stories about the animals, my daughter got to help feed 3 animals and got to stroke another two so she was made up! The park is well laid out and there’s benches everywhere for those that aren’t able bodied. The food we ordered was lovely and came out nice and hot, and in a timely manner. My only gripe is that the play area could be improved. There was nothing for my 1 year old boy to do, and my 3 year old needed help on all the balancing beams. That’s the only thing I could comment on xx

Brilliant place to visit. Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable about all the animals that live at the zoo.
The little cafe serves tasty food and snacks and is great for a treat.
There’s little bags of food to feed the animals at the gift shop.
I would definitely recommend a trip to messingham zoo, the animals are adorable and well looked after. My daughter was really taken with the chipmunks and the lemurs, and she got to feed the cute little otters.
Great place, great staff… go visit.

It's a small special corner of the world!
What a wonderful little zoo! The keepers are passionate and wonderfully knowledgeable. They know all animals by name and can tell you all about their individual traits. The animals are well cared for and look happy and contented. It has concrete paths so you dont get muddy. Some animals we had never seen before and it was fascinating to learn all about them. You can buy food and feed some species.

You can park onsite they have a little cafe and gift shop.Little children have a small wooden outdoor adventure play area with sand and water trays. They also do animal experiences and shadow a keeper experience too. We liked it better than the South Yorkshire Wildlife Park as you can get up close and personal  to most of he animals and they are really friendly. Feed an Eastern chipmunk a dandelion and you will see what we mean!

It's a real treasure of a place we all loved it and will be back soon. I added a bunch of photos so you can see how wonderful it is.
