Really disappointed as we’d heard good things about this place. The fish was okay, if a bit greasy but the chips were the worst I’ve had in a long time. Really soggy and undercooked. Won’t be going there again ☹️.

We was staying the weekend in Horncastle and thought….. Saturday treat, fish chips mushy peas 😋.
The fish was overcooked. Skinny, dry, tasteless fish appear from the skin left on it! Chips were soggy and like a big heap of soggy potatoes in the box.
The bread was small covered in margarine and we had to assemble the fish butty. ( the fish butty from Huddersfield are made for ya, so all the heat vinegar n salt has been soaking into the bread.
£45 for 2 adults, 3 children. We kept grumbling about how disappointed we all were.

Been here loads of times but I have to say went tonight and the chips are almost inedible!

Now for nearly four quid (3.80) for just large chips you expect a lot better!

The chips were so undercooked and ladden with oil and they were virtually inedible! You could tell the oil was no where near hot enough to be cooked properly

Anemic is an understatement!

Never leave reviews but felt after paying so much for just chips and then not even eating them was enough

Needed a quick cheap lunch; cone of chips & a single battered sausage fit the bill perfectly. Chips just the way they should be, little bit of crispy on the outside, perfectly fluffy inside, sausage properly battered & perfectly cooked. Saturday lunchtime, so high turnover, but would definitely go back.

Often past through Horncastle and was my go to stop as for many years they were by far the best traditional fish and chips around. Its changed hands since I last came by. Small portions and over cooked. When ordering I looked at them behind the counter and thought it was the lighting. Would try again but if the counter looks like today’s I will pass. However the staff were lovely and professional as usual.

Sadly I wouldn't recommend it due to inadequate provision for dietary requirements.
I'm sure their regular fish and chips etc are great though so hence 3 stars. Please note additional comments.
