Lovely little shop, with nice staff! Not a lot of selection, however! But convenient if staying nearby. There’s a minimum spend if paying by card, though, so watch out for that.

Visited twice, once for still water which they had run out of and the second time for milk where I was told that their minimum spend to pay by card was £3.50. As a convenience store, NOT VERY CONVENIENT!!!

We visited Waterhouses for a large family event with family from all over the world, we were based close to this store and it was very convenient and the younger lady and man in here were pleasant, helpful and lovely to deal with and if this couple and the dog ran the store solely I would rate 5 stars, HOWEVER the miserable, rude, racist and generally offensive old man who we had the misfortune of dealing with on our last day completely ruined the whole experience of the week, being blatantly and openly racist to our Italian relatives due to their inability to speak English (they tried, they don’t speak English but had been practicing for their visit) had the shop not been filling up with young school children, he would have been put in his place quite robustly, however he has been reported to the police. Avoid if you’re not a white English speaking local if he’s manning the till!

The owner of this shop is a rude and antisocial so and so. I could say more, but I won't. He has no manners and should not be in a public facing role. The customers are an inconvenience to him. I would sooner do without than go there. It's such a shame as it could be a lovely little shop, apart from said owner. One star is too much!!

We were staying in the area with our family and called at the store on three occasions on each occasion we were sold food items out of there sell buy dates the first item we returned and a replacement given the other two we only became aware of once we had returned home. Errors happen I understand that but on three occasions is poor stock management and a risk to peoples Health.

Visited the store 3 times over the weekend and each time came home with out of date stock. The first time black butter weeks out of date, black mold visible on other products and out of date eggs. Very unfortunate as is a useful place for the community but not worth stepping foot in.

I haven’t experienced any issues from this local store and the variety of locally resourced items is a nice addition.

My only negative complaint would be that the minimum spend of £3.50 or the charge for the cash point of basically £2.

This store could be a great local convenience, but although he has a decent range of local produce, the owner needs to drag himself into the 21st century. Yes we are a rural community down here in Waterhouses & Winkhill, and you don't expect the same level of amenities as a town supermarket, but I do expect to be able to pay by card, but many times I have been told that the card machine is on the same line as the owner's phone line (who lives just through a door behind the counter) and that we can't use the card machine as he is on the phone!

On the last occasion we were forced to shop here due to bad weather (as we would normally give our business to the shop over in Ipstones despite the further distance) we were advised we "can't use the card machine for about 45 minutes". Ridiculous. And yes, there is an ATM in the store (which charges to use it) and OK, it's only £1.20 to use, but why the heck are we suffering the charges so said owner can have a chinwag for lengthy periods tying up his phone line/card machine. Customer service should be a priority especially in a small close-knit community like this. The only good thing is that it's handy in a pinch, but is expensive and needs updating.
