Customer opinions

This company has 258 reviews on Google My Business, with an average rating of 4.7/5.

Customers have praised the friendly staff, lovely garden, and delicious food, but some have mentioned that the pastry could be improved upon, with some suggesting that it may have been heated in the microwave instead of the oven, resulting in a less crispy exterior. However, the filling was still found to be tasty.

One customer went so far as to express their gratitude for the charming lady working at the tea room, describing her as 'charmingly honest and wonderfully cheeky.' The customer also wished for the opportunity to see Sting visit the tea room, perhaps to explore the 'wonders of tantra' with the staff.

Lovely tearoom. Very quaint. Pretty garden at the back. Staff friendly. Pastry on pasty could have been more crispy (think heated in microwave, rather than oven),but the filling was tasty.

A beautifully quaint tea room that served up a delicious soup and an even better coffee cake (which I couldn’t quite finish!). But what truly made this place special was the lovely lady working there, charmingly honest and wonderfully cheeky. Thank you so much for brightening my day with your smile. And here’s hoping one day Sting walks through your doors to explore the wonders of tantra with you! 🍰 💦 🙏🏻

Went in on my birthday for a high tea with my partner. The food was fantastic, it was my first experience have a proper scone and I'm totally hooked now. Next time I'm down this part of the world I'll be back.

Such a beautiful setting out the back aswell on a nice sunny day. Staff were great, prices were fair. Great little place

I’ve been home from my holiday for a few days now and I cannot stop thinking about the toastie I had at this cafe. It was absolutely to die for. The staff were lovely enough to make me a cheddar and cranberry toastie rather than Brie and cranberry and it was incredible. Although a little pricey, this cafe is worth the money! Absolutely beautiful location and layout as well. Will 100% return and have told all my family and friends to visit!

Lovely scones and cakes. I can highly recommend all the scones, both sweet and savoury.

Sandwiches are epic and very generously filled.

They take dogs too in the garden or courtyard.

Great tea room with both indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Pretty gardens and quaint court yard. The menu had a nice selection of hot and cold foods and drinks. Our party of 7 were having cream teas. There is a good selection of scones with tea or coffee. I had the cherry scone which was warm, fresh and delicious. The tea was plentiful enough for 3/4 cups. Service was prompt and staff very friendly and efficient. I would definitely revisit and recommend to others.

A recent visit to Dunster Castle brought us to discover this Victorian tea room and we vowed to return.
Today was that day.
I called ahead and booked at table for two.
When we arrived, we entered through the back entrance that led out to the Nation Trust car park of Dunster Castle. Handy as I'm a member so parking was free.
The immediate impression was that this place had character. A typical well kept English tea garden. Beautiful and full of life.
We made our way through to the servery and announced our arrival.
Luckily there was ample space for us to choose our seats, and we chose a table for two in the back garden, tucked nicely under the veranda of the main building. Very cosy, romantic and fresh.
On this occasion we chose afternoon tea, and we weren't disappointed.
The waitress dutifully took our choices for the sandwiches, cakes and scones, and of course drinks. (We chose the coffee option instead of tea)
The menu was actually very good. It was clear, full of choice for all dietary options. A clear allergy reference was included.
We didn't wait lthat ong, (the menu does explain that each dish is made to order so delivery may take a little longer. A nice touch as expectations are set, and disappointment avoided. Simple and effective) and our afternoon tea was served up and looked lovely.
Tasty, fresh sandwiches. Fruity, flavoursome , moist cakes. Perfectly hard/soft scones, and a jam & clotted cream to match.
No complaints here.
All I'm all, a very nice experience and I would recommend a visit.
Dog friendly too.

Lovely little tea room full of history. As it was a very wet January afternoon it wasn't busy But can be very busy in the summer. The choices for this afternoon tea are to long to mention, but I can say there should be something for everyone. The place is clean and tidy and our waitress was friendly and attentive without being over the top. All homemade cakes and scones and if my trousers could have taken the strain I would have loved to have tasted another slice so that will have to be done another day !
Highly recommended and value for the money.
