On first impressions the room looked welcoming and spacious. The check in procedure was quite slick, although it’s difficult to find someone to speak to. As we settled in, we found the heating wasn’t on and there was no way of getting it to come on. On day 2 a member of staff tried to get in our room so we asked about the heating. They said they would sort it but didn’t. In the shower room, there was no hot water to the basin for the duration of our 2 night stay. The mirror was situated so high, we could only see the top of our heads. We are average height of 5ft 5. The shampoo/shower gel was situated on the sink, due to there being nowhere in the shower for it. There was no rails or hooks in the entire room, so nowhere for your towels or clothes. No toilet roll holder for our single loo roll, for 3 days!! We sent an email re the loo roll and got a prompt response to go and take some from the staff toilet!|In the bedroom, the mattress was appalling, really poor quality with the springs easily felt, and the duvet and pillows were very thin. Therefore not a good night’s sleep. No additional blankets or pillows and only 1 hand towel between us. |The positives were the large tv, with access to Prime, Netflix etc, the amount of space and the decent toiletries and refreshments. Excellent location and parking.

Disappointing revisit unfortunately.
We stayed in the cottage separate to the main house, which we stayed in before a couple of years ago.
I'm not sure if the guest house has changed hands since our last visit but the second time round wasn't as good.
The size of the cottage is great and it's nice having private space away from the main building, however there were certain areas that were looking a bit grubby and unloved, the banister at the top of the stairs could do with a wipe over and the mirrored furniture in the bedroom was cracked in multiple places. During our previous stay there were a couple of cans of pop in the fridge which was a nice touch, but that is not the case anymore.
It was very cold when we visited and unfortunately we just couldn't get warm, even with the heaters on. It would have been helpful to have a couple of blankets for the seating area downstairs (rather than having to drag the duvet down from upstairs.)
The duvet cover did have some unknown marks on it and unfortunately we found a fake eyelash stuck to the bottom too, not the nicest.
There is also a green light that beams into the bedroom from the fire/emergency light, which we don't recall being a problem before, but it was particularly bright and did disrupt our sleep. I understand the emergency lighting is there for a reason but maybe could have been positioned better.
The bathroom is huge and very clean with plenty of toilet roll etc so no issues there.
Overall we were disappointed that our revisit wasn't as good as our last visit and we probably won't stay here again, even though the location is great. Such a shame!

Super average accommodation. We upgraded to the superior suite room which sadly may have been a mistake! Admittedly it wasn't expensive but it also didn't feel like great value.

The room was located at the front of the property which is right on the main road so with the single glazed windows you hear every single car going past. For a big, old manor house we were basically able to hear the movements of all the other guests which was a surprise and a disappointment.

The room was spacious and clean, the bed however was extremely uncomfortable, the mattress was awful which coupled with the noise led to 2 nights terrible sleep. The bathroom was freezing cold and the electric shower poor (plus the tray was broken).

Parking is handy to be included in the area and Latimer House is very handy for Bowness but it didn't make for a great break away.

Having just spent 2 nights in the coach house I would not recommend. |The rooms where cold even with the heaters on. The floor could do with under floor heating as the floor was freezing to walk on. You can't connect to the WiFi as advertised spoke to owner to just be told the WiFi is weak. This could easily be sorted by WiFi extenders. Also mini fridge had no soft drinks in as advertised and blames it on the house keeper. Mattress really thin and uncomfortable. Bedding to thin and was freezing all night. Pillows to thin. Glass mirrored chest of drawers broken with extremely sharp edges. Also back of bed thick of dust and spiders webs. Hair dryer also sounds like it's ready to explod.

Certainly not worth £110/night!|We could actually feel the bed springs and the bed also squeaks (quite embarrassing!)|The bathroom door doesn’t close properly|No toilet roll holder nor towel rail|There are more rules in the Guest Information file than there are positives (leading one to think that the offer of service is less important than keeping guests in check!)|Impression of the room is certainly not that of a 4 star rating (photographs on website very cleverly avoid this perception) |The location is good and West View restaurant was excellent.

After reading some reviews, I was a little sceptical. Especially as we had booked the cheaper room, but upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised.
Very small room (4) but would do the job for what we need.
Positives. Good location (10 or 25 min walk) restaurants, cafes along the way.
, parking, no hassle with check in/people, very clean.

Negatives. Very hot in room & when u walk into the actual property. Would dread summer or warmer weather. View from window not much (can't be helped) except mess left in yard below from what must be a BIG dog! Left there all weekend.

Would definitely stay again if price is right. For me, £100 a night for that room is the very limit.
But it was a nice clean place and rubbishes some reviews left by others based on our room & stay.

Really good location and lovely rooms. Only thing I'd say is the shower isn't very powerful

Loved our stay here. Only downside was that the heating wasn't on in the mornings and the shower wasn't very powerful. Other than that I would recommend Latimer House as a perfect place to stay to visit Bowness
