Lovely supermarket in the centre of Battle. Everything you need for a weekly shop. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is also a Post Office inside which is a bonus

Wide selection, especially in the bakery department. The shop has a Post Office counter inside and the friendly staff kept the shop tidy.

Whilst I absolutely LOVE the professional and kind staff, I'm profoundly disappointed in Jempsens' recent decision to discard their purchasing agreements with national suppliers NISA and Co-op, switching to contracting with Morrisons as their sole supplier. No longer is there the variety Jempsens had, nor do the products on display often fulfill my shopping requirements. I feel that my thoughts about their new trajectory reflects what I'm hearing from a number of shoppers; that Jempsens have now, sadly, lost their edge. This is particularly sad for the town of Battle as grocery shopping is limited to an extremely compact Co-op on the High Street, a tesco/Esso garage, or Jempsens. I truly feel Jempsens have failed to listen to or identify their customer base in this regards. Just further justification for online shopping now. 🙁

Parked in the 30 min bays for a quick shop (£65.74) as we do on occasion and NISA blocked us in and other customers waiting to leave. NISA would not move. Store said we had to wait until NISA delivery was done.

I dont think its unreasonable for Jempsons to put up a delivery expected sign - not to park if you are in a hurry. We waited 20 mins in the car park to leave so Im expecting ANPR cameras have clocked us in past the 30 mins and we are about to start dealing with demands for payments.

It is unreasonable to detain customers with fresh shopping.

The lorry could have moved 5 ft to allow vehicles to exit.

So not shopping again here.

Absolutely terrible shop. Smarmy security guard with short man syndrome on a power trip, who doesn't allow people to browse. I've never met such hostile shop staff, apparently going back to get something is reason to accuse people of theft. I've always loved jempsons shops and shopped in them most of my life, never had such a terrible experience in my life. Don't know why anyone would employ such a vile person.

Initially I have to say I have shopped at this store since its inception over 30 years ago. The retail staff have been nothing short of excellent over this time, extremely helpful and friendly ... however, in recent times they have employed a security guard who I have found to be both rude and intimidating. I didn't appreciate him constantly using the F word in front of my daughter particularly pleasant. In recent days he has felt the need to remind me what time the store closes. After this became irritating I said I am aware of when you close and walked on. He followed me up the produce aisle and became intimidating . This is a shame. I think I shop at this store just about every day, but after this, I won't be back. Thank you to the 99% of your staff who have been brilliant.

Got barked at to move over a foot where I was standing waiting for the post office counter. There was no one else within 5 miles of me and the pandemic has long since ended. Staff completely brainwashed and pedantic.....won't be going there again.
