I usually replace phone parts myself, however this time I decided to let someone else do it, for the first and last time ever. The phone is an iPhone 13 mini.

1. My battery, the culprit, was replaced by a used and soon to be dead battery for £65.

2. My original screen got cracked during the repair (apparently an accident) and was replaced with a cheap knock-off which misses the oleophobic layer and has a significantly lower hardness (meaning you will get scratches much more easily). Reading the reviews, I am a bit confused about the frequency of this happening in-store. It shouldn't.

3. I paid £65 pounds to have a dead battery replaced by an almost dead battery. At the same time my original screen was replaced due to their fault, which should have been replaced with an original, but wasn't.

4. I want to support my local techies and businesses, but under no circumstances would I recommend this store to anyone.

5. I am fortunate that I don't rely on the phone I handed in, nor do I care much about the price paid. To be honest it was just curiosity that made me try a repair serrvice. That said, I wouldn't want a fellow customer, who relies on a phone for work/life, does not have much of a technical understanding and expects a decent repair/replacement to use their service (hope others are better?)

6. If iRepairTech would like to respond to this review and I am afraid they will, although I would advise against a standard response, they are free to do so.

7. @Brandon: I hope my original screen and battery haven't been disposed of yet.

As open-source advocate, I am happy to provide all soft- and hardware data to confirm the above and share all communication I had with the store and take my phone apart on video or give it away to another store for free, to let them demonstrate how things should NOT be done.

I now feel really bad for an average user who is not technical and relies on this kind of service.

TLDR:
A person with technical knowledge does not recommend iRepairTech and offers all data, communication and phone for review.

Edit: Brandon, the nice chap in-store, was polite and professional. My review is exclusively based on the technical part.

Edit2: I forgot to mention that I was asked to give them my pin to unlock my phone so they can run tests after completing the repair. Whilst this is a legitimate request, I would urge any customer to never(!) share their pin.

Please erase all data before handing the device in (via factory reset and leave the phone unlocked) and use the backup function once you get your device back. Phones hold a tremendous amount of data, which only the owner should have access to.

Went into to sell my old phone, very professional process, took just an hour for them to do their technical checks on the integrity of the phone etc, the member of staff (Wednesday 21st) was exceptional.

No complaints at all, the pinnacle of what a Witney local business should be about.

Well done Irepairtech. I had a problem with my iPhone so went into the Witney store and Max was extremely helpful in sorting the problem out and was very efficient, it made a very good impression on me and I would certainly recommend Irepairtech to anyone who has a problem with their devices

Went above and beyond. Really fast and attentive service, always asked permission before making any changes. Went in for a screen repair which revealed further issues after getting it back so returned it to be fixed and they even replaced my phone for free and transferred the data.
