This is a lovely shop, with lots of good ideas for gifts. My only complaint is that the website did not say it was closed for 29th December. I don't begrudge them taking a break for Christmas, but, having checked on the website to see if the shop was open, we went to Hungerford specially, only to find it closed.

I have been shopping in Inklings for years and whilst they sell lovely unique gifts and items (albeit at an expense) the customer service is shocking. There are lovely ladies dotted around who always wear a smile but unfortunately 1 lady (who I believe is the owner) spoils it for everyone!

I went in 2 days before Christmas to take back some Christmas crackers my husband bought (I had already bought a box from Inklings and at £22 for 8 we didn't require 2 boxes!). Unfortunately my husband didn't pick up the receipt but the Inkings sticker was on the box. Not only did they refuse a refund (which is fair enough) they also refused to provide a credit note like every other store I know does - which just baffles me!

In addition to this, the attitude of the lady next to the till (I believe is the owner) was nasty, dismissive and quite frankly appauling. She looks at customers with distain as if they are a nuisance! I sadly will not be shopping at what is my local gift shop again.

Went to buy a candle and placed the candle on tissue paper on the counter. I asked if it could be wrapped in tissue paper as it was a gift. She pointed to some paper to buy. I said is it possible to wrap the paper here on counter. She proceeded to abruptly put this in a bag as oppise to wrap. She ignored me when i asked if it could be wrapped. And shook her head and muttered rude? Her attitude was apalling and unkind. I left the shop not buying the candle.

This is a gift shop and you work with people on a daily basis. Make this a pleasant experience for customers....

I always speak as I find and I have to say the customer service I received today while visiting Inklings was perfect. Lady was friendly and helpful, didnt rush me and was happy to chat. Excellent experience, thank you x

We've been going to this shop for over 25 years. We've bought toys, presents, cards and lots of things over the years. We recently tried to return some wrapping paper for a refund but without the receipt the staff quickly turned unfriendly. Despite having the shop and price label and our credit card transaction history, they refused a refund implying that the two rolls could be stolen. Unsurprisingly we won't shop there again. And it's a shame I couldn't leave a zero star review, even one star seems generous.

Nice shop but the staff are not the friendliest. They always give the impression that they don't like children in the shop even though half the shop is full of toys. Every time I go in I feel like my kids aren't welcome, even though I'm very careful to control them. I've never been offered help getting my buggy through the door or up the steps by a member of staff - I would not assume this but most independent shops that sell kids' stuff would do this as a matter of course. A shame as they have some lovely gifts, but I won't be going back.

Love this shop, we get our Christmas calendars every year from here as a tradition. The team are always so friendly and the selection of gifts are great!
