Stumbled across this gem while picking up an eBay item. Great selection of fish. Seemed fresher than could imagine for an inland dealer. Very little fishy aroma. Deli section expensive. Fish section expensive. Yorkshire folk must think London seems a little pricey whereas Mancs think it's extortionate.

Took a punt on Lemon sole after being told it came out of the water yesterday. A fishy tale if I ever heard one. £15 stopped me from ordering anymore. A special treat. Car didn't smell on way home.

Googled French recipe. Coat in seasoned flour fry a few mins per side in oil. Remove fish. Fry chunk of butter til nutty add 1 juice of Keith Lemon and tsp of capers. Swill around add fish then serve. Absolutely superb! Fish has a different steamy clean flavour when fresh. Sole reminded of chicken a bit.

I grew up in a Cod town in 70's with amazing chippies. Moving to Manc chippies made my burps bad and tummy uncomfortable.
I don't claim to be an afishionado but know the difference between fresh and morrisons.
We had a fish fruit n veg shop late 80' to 90's
Clear, bulgey, glassy eyes best and rigor mortis if lucky by docks. Hard to tell with filleted. Have to trust seller and check fish smells very little and belly feeling after and if kitchen stinks. Supermarket fish is vile to me.

We were very pleased with this delicious Lemon Sole. It had Soul. It was super bad in a good way.

Excellent fishmonger, the guy who served was super helpful and knowledgeable about the shops offering. It's not cheap but the fish is of the highest quality and worth the extra. When we visited the shop had stock of all the fish you'd expect including Turbot, halibut and monkfish. The fresh prawns were huge. The shop has a selection of frozen fish and a small deli section.

They say "you are what you eat", well if you believe that look no further than Holmfirth Fresh Fish, Gary and the team have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all matters fish. From the sourcing and provenance to the preparation and cooking. Informing you of best value and what is in season, sourcing particular product if required. When I am entertaining, I never go anywhere else.

I was lucky enough this year to be a contestant on MasterChef, my first dish in knockout week was mackerel based "Oh no not mackeral again Mum", made possible by Gary's patiece in teaching me how to correctly fillet a mackeral.this consisted of home smoked mackerel pate, gin and tonic cured mackerel fillet, bechamel mackerel and black pudding bon bons and of course line caught mackeral cerviche. The recipe for all of these dishes is available from Gary upon request.

I am delighted as a resident of Honley/Holmfirth to have such a wonderful facility on my doorstep, I cannot recommend this place highly enough if you are a fan of fish and food

A really friendly and helpful service with excellent quality fish. If you are stuck for inspiration the staff are really knowledgeable. We will definitely be returning!
