It was okay. A bit 'works canteen' like in layout and style. However, there was plenty of room and places to sit.

Enjoy a good breakfast. Cooked breakfast (Eggs Benedict) was served hot, nicely presented with some rocket on the side. I had a soya decaf flat white, which had great flavour and enjoyable. Plenty of space in the restaurant and good facilities. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is free and a good size although on a busy day can fill up.

I feel badly about giving this rather negative review because this is my "local", but Hitchin Garden Centre may have lost its way for the moment. The food was very good, but the once cosy atmosphere has gone and it feels like eating lunch in a warehouse. The plants were in good condition, though there could be more choice at this time of year. The gift/home section contained, what looked like cheaper versions of high-end brands. They just weren't nice enough to tempt you to treat yourself or a friend. The clothes section, for women anyway, included tops that all seemed too short. This is not "the fashion" but rather bad buying. As women, in autumn we generally want tops that will cover our belly buttons, and if they cover our bums too, we'll be really chuffed. The Christmas offering was disappointing. We love Christmas in October, so when we found ourselves walking through the section without the usual glee it was noticeable. A fair amount of the stock looked cheap and the displays were uninspiring. It was made worse by the supermarket style aisles that funnelled us around, and by bad Christmas music that was too loud. We couldn't wait to get back outside to the plants. Ordinarily, we would leave the store already making plans to return and see Christmas in all its glory, but we will prioritise other local places for the time being. I hope HGC can get back on track.

Very nice place, with a good range of plants, decorative and fruit trees. Huge variety of garden decorations and ceramics planters in very attractive prices. Recommend if anyone is looking for some nice idea for the garden. There are a lot of items in discount prices, it's a perfect time to save some money 💰 and spring is just a step away.
I have bought two little lampions and a very cute little bird.

We visited Hitchin Garden Centre to look for some ceramic pots and enjoyed browsing through the display on offer. We were there so long we stayed for a delicious lunch. I always appreciate the fresh local produce on offer in such places. Definitely would recommend!
