Ovoid, not professional at all, come 10 mins late and they cancelled your appointment, proposed to rebook it for in 3 weeks again, just a joke as I booked my original appointment 3 weeks ago! Purely shocking, go to a proper garage for proper service.

A big shame as they had always done good jobs previously on all my cars and this car beforehand. I don’t really know what changed.
I noticed my car ‘smoking’ from under the hood. So I took it into them to have a look. When I dropped it off I showed a few pictures of the engine and a video of it smoking and I said it’s covered in oil so I’m not sure exactly where the issue is. They said they would have a look and get back to me.
They got back to me 3 hours later and said they assume it’s an oil leak, but couldn’t tell where it’s coming from “as it’s covered in oil” and the car had other issues. And to have the oil leak fixed I would have to have the engine steam cleaned. And that this is not a service they do.
I had the engine steam cleaned and rebooked, I asked for the oil leak to be fixed and the other issues. Later on I had a phone call to be told they fixed all the other issues and not the original problem! And that they believe the leak is coming from the rocker cover. And that it would be an extra 300-400 and if I had an Astra it would only be £90.

(Id like to add that the other issues I paid for made the car run better, I was just annoyed that all the other expensive problems were fixed first, rather than the original problem. To be fair they did a good job with that)

I then rebooked for the rocker cover to be fixed. Which I then got a phone call to say the injectors had been broken during repair and I’ll have to wait for the parts to come in. I was without a car for 5 days originally and wasn’t offered any courtesy car or anything, especially as I just moved house. These things happen, but it would have been nice. I then had to wait an extra day to find out what was going on with my car as they forgot to contact me and the parts hadn’t turned up.

After repair, the car was still smoking, I took it back and had the valve replaced. And they said it should solve the issue. It didn’t.

In the mean time, as I now had another two week wait, I took it to another independent garage to have a look. They said the rocker cover had not been replaced correctly and the leak was still coming from there.

I took it back to Halfords who said they assume the leak was coming from the EGR valve now, but there was nothing more they could do.
This all went over a span of 4 months. After this, I attempted to speak to the customer service team 5 times who kept stating they will be in contact and are investigating the complaint. But they never did.
All I wanted was a refund for the oil leak repair, not the rest. And this started in April 2024, it’s now October and no one in Halfords has gotten in touch to discuss the matter but we’re happy to take over 1.2K in repair costs.
A big shame as they had been good before, In hindsight I should of just gone to the dealer but as they always did a good job before I always went here

I visited Halfords Winchester just to get a headlight bulb fitted ahead of my trip to Scotland. Shocked when the assistant said it would be 4-5 weeks before they could do it! I left and drove across the road to ETB Autocentres and they fitted my bulb in minutes! They are also fitting two new tyres, and a service booked in for next week. Halfords, you have just lost a customer to ETB Autocentres.
