This little service station used to be my go-to for fuel; competitive prices, and super helpful, friendly, cheerful staff. I assume it's changed ownership because today's visit will be my last. The pump wouldn't pump smoothly, and the amounts kept going up in increments of anything between 5p and 30p, no matter how I held it, so it was impossible to get an accurate reading or accurate amount of fuel in my vehicle. When I went to pay, I told the young man behind the counter I thought there was a problem with the pump, and explained to him what had happened. He said, "No, that's normal," and then told me all the pumps were like that and were supposed to be like that, as if I was some simpleton that had never used a petrol station before. I said I was only letting him know in case he needed to report it to Esso, but he just mumbled, "No" and then stared at me, so I asked him if I could have a phone number for them instead so that I could let them know. After staring at me again he said, "There's probably a number on the pump," took payment, and then said nothing more. He was surly, disinterested, and rude. I'd understand this response if I had gone in with the same attitude, but I was friendly, polite, and respectful throughout the whole exchange. Just be aware, if this is where you choose to purchase your fuel.

Beware. I purchased fuel on June 5th and got told, despite the card reader saying approved, that the till needed a re-boot. Then after waiting 15mins payment was taken again.
Went back for refund same day and told no can do.
Told Mark would call me, no call back. Went again June 6th and showed bank statement 2 x payments taken. Told again no can do for a refund.
The staff called Mark on the phone he said no can do asked me to go back again on the 7th.
Disgrace. Will avoid in the future. I want my money back.

I use this fuel station nearly every day for purchasing goods. Fuelling up is once every three weeks or so. The staff are always polite, efficient and friendly. During this last week they have coped admirably with the extra burden of relentless queues of cars lining up during the 'fuel crisis' (the tankers have been delivering as normal, it's the people causing the chaos!). I think these staff members deserve a huge thank you for providing a much needed service. They have endured downright rudeness, shouting, name calling and pure ignorance. I hope they are given a bonus and pay rise, because without them there would have been a crisis for sure!

I purchased fuel from this garage and wanted to purchase a vape for myself. My teenage daughter accompanied me into the shop to buy sweets. I was refused the purchase of a vape and subsequently incorrectly accused of Proxy Purchasing by Josh and the other boy wearing a very questionable flat cap. I questioned their reasoning to which they responded “because you walked in together”. I was then told the shop would receive a hefty fine of up to £1,000. This is disgusting, insulting and hugely judgemental. I am fully aware it’s an offence to purchase inhaling devices/nicotine for those aged under 18. The relevant legislation states it would be an offence for the person purchasing, not the retailer. Legislation also states Enforcement officers may also need to observe adults handing tobacco or nicotine inhaling products to someone under age 18 in order to enforce the proxy purchase offence. Never have I encountered such a judgemental accusation in my life, and I will never purchase anything from this store.

Night manager on a recent Friday night shift has no people skills in a crisis. Runs around ranting, laughing with drunk neighbours and then yapping on his mobile. Closed pumps at 8.45pm as he is tired and stressed out. Welcome to the real world buttercup. Between our 2 cars we have spent on average 950£ per month with this station. No more.
