Had a lovely weekend in Holmfirth staying at The Elephant and Castle. We received a friendly welcome on arrival. We had a fab Sunday lunch prepared by Andy. 👌 Food was piping hot, plentiful, and very, very good. And those Yorkshire puds! ❤️ The room was warm, comfortable, and very clean. It was a great place to stay and very handy for the Picturedrome, where we saw the awesome Dare. Breakfast the next day was served by lovely Libby and again prepared by Andy. Just what we needed to set us up for the day. We had a lovely stay and will definitely be back. Thanks again for a great stay, especially Libby, who was very attentive.

Stayed here as we were at the Picturedrome for a gig. Rooms are really well kept and immaculately clean. Food was superb. Friendly atmosphere. Good entertainment with pool table, dart board and live music in the evening. Good price too. We will return for sure.

Not stayed here, but eaten here. Food was absolutely lovely, very generous portions indeed, and very reasonably priced indeed. Staff were helpful and friendly, including when we accidentally left a bag there which they kept safe. The steak and ale pie is the best I've had in the local area and among the cheapest too. The Sunday roast was also great, moist turkey, tasty gravy, nice toasties, perfectly cooked veg and a Yorkshire pudding you could climb.

excellent place to stay. nice and central for the Pcturedome which was our reason for the trip. room beautifully refurbished and spotless. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. fantastic breakfast for all our party of 8 efficiently served and served with a smile

Been to Holmfirth many times over the years but haven’t been in this place ever as it never looked inviting. However, that has changed! After hearing some good reviews about this place, we decided to give it a try. We called in for Sunday Roast with our dog, having booked on the morning. When we arrived, the bar area was busy but our table was ready. We had great food, well cooked and very tasty with good beer and a wide selection of drinks at reasonable prices. The service was excellent too, plenty of bar and waiting staff on to make your experience as seamless as possible. Football was also being shown in the bar area on large screens if that’s your thing. |I was very impressed with everything. We shall be heading back for food and (or) drinks 👍

We visited the elephant and castle on a day trip to Holmfirth. It was a beautiful sunny day so this was the perfect place to eat. There was seating inside and outside! We shared a pizza and fries. The food was top notch and the service was just as good. The waitress was super friendly and accommodating. I will be returning.

Have not been in for a while as kitchen closed for refurbishment.|Booked a table easily , arrived for 3.00 .|Showed to our table and presented with Sunday lunch menu . Asked for the wine list was told they didn’t have one .!|Young and pleasant staff but unfortunately need a bit more training.|Set lunch , three courses for £25 good choices |available but when asked for wine list told there wasn’t one ! So approached the bar to see which wines they had . They showed us a Chardonnay Shiraz and a Merlot all at £20 . |We chose the Shiraz to go with the trio of Sunday Roast .|Two adjoining tables both had problems when asking about wine choices .|One table left because of this other remained .|Our food order came quickly we shared a starter , had to ask for sharing plates !|Mains followed , waiter explained he was new and a little confused about condiments.|Roast was absolutely amazing, seriously freshly cooked, perfect vegetables and the most wicked of Yorkshire pudding’s and gravy ever tasted .|Syrup pudding followed also shared between us again absolutely faultless .|The surroundings are nice and comfortable staff extremely friendly just need more info.|The wine choice needs complete overhaul.|Our Shiraz was an absolute let down to the fabulous food . |We are local eat out with clients and family a lot , especially in surrounding areas . Would definitely recommend coming here but be warned about the wine so your experience is not affected.

Visited on a Sunday, mid afternoon. Wanted to eat and watch the football. Pub has 3!large tv’s/seating area and advertises the football as being shown. Sat in an area where food is served (still with large tv), tv not on, asked for it to be put on, staff refused stating don’t put tv on when people eating- there was only others eating! Others came in, same question, same answer, small family come in ask same and they agree to put on! When is a sports pub offering to show football not a sports pub? Strange attitude and probably not good business sense!
