A fantastic indoor market that's a dying breed in these modern times. Traditional stalls along side more 'modern' coffee/tea shops for the locals to meet and talk. This venue deserves to continue for many years to come.

There is always something interesting happening at Market Place on a week-end. This Sunday was a vintage fair with vintage cars, music and food

This is one of Stockport's gems. Fabulous building, housing stalls from the past, visit, prices are from the past too. Get your morning tea, brekkie from the homily cafe's on site. All friendly service, from everyone I meet. It is not large but we'll worth a visit.
Visit some shops from the past in the side streets, just off the main shopping centre.

I gave it 3 star's because of the history the market has. The negative is there's not alot of mixed market stalls or choice inside or out,we should be celebrating our heritage not neglecting it & really feel the council could improve for the better. Access to the indoor market is good for wheelchair user's though as there automatic.

Great setting with some surrounding buildings dating back to Tudor times, this small indoor market perched atop a hill has stalls in everythimg from fruit and veg to collectors vinyls. These days it seems very quiet and the surrounding stalls on the street outside have unfortunately dwindled.

What is happening to Stockport Market?
There used to be stalls packed in along the streets near the church and the bridge but now there are hardly any traders on!
It used to be a fantastic place to shop, now it's more like a ghost town when you visit there.
Thankfully the indoor market has a bit going on, so it doesn't feel like a wasted visit when you go there.

A superb old-fashioned market at the centre of what is potentially becoming a thriving restaurant area in Stockport town centre. The indoor market contains some great food outlets and a lively local cafe. Hopefully the regeneration of Altrincham town centre will be replicated here!

Beautiful Victorian glass house indoor market. Used for general purpose market (second hand books, fruit and veg, sweets, cheese stall etc.) but also hosts events such as The Vintage Village and record and book fairs. Should be used for more evening events in my opinion.
