Apparently well revered for it's quality cuts, fails to deliver on customer service. Twice we were blatantly ignored in favour of later arrivals (regulars), and then served the last bedraggled cut of beef. Their meat could be the finest in the land but the customer service sure isn't. After two attempts, we decided never to return again.

Incredibly rude!!

Having recently moved to Buntingford we were recommended Doels by a few people.

A few weeks ago my partner walked to town an hour before closing on a Saturday to find everything packed away where they were then essentially told due to a local school event it had been quiet so there was no need to remain open and as such received the bare minimum service from the owner.

I wandered in today just before 9 and everything seemed to be an inconvenience. Nothing was out / prepared so he had to go to the fridge twice. You'd have thought the fridge was in the next village the sigh he gave.....

Asked for marinated chicken breast and was then rudely challenged as to whether I wanted them instead of pre packed seasoned thighs. Turns out they didn't have any and he had to get the seasoning to do this.

Missed sausages and eggs from the bill and I was then made to feel like that was my fault when he'd left these on the side!

Usually served by a young lad who's brilliant, polite, well mannered and helpful.

Shame the owner seems to have lost all interest in customer service and the true value of local support.

If a business opens at 8 then you should be in full operating capacity not half setup and fumbling around over an hour in to opening, especially on a Saturday when custom would be much greater than a weekday I'd have thought.

Such a shame not everyone receives the same level of service and it's very much based on age, gender and appearance....

There are a lot of fancy, expensive butchers with very average beef. This is an average looking butcher with exquisite quality beef. Ask them for an extra aged beef rib from the back and die happy

This place is easy to review as it's produce is first class. The meats of all types and cuts are simply excellent. Their sausages are brilliant, full of meat and not fat or other mystery ingredients. Service is brisk and prices reflect good value. I don't go anywhere else nowadays.

Old fashioned traditional butchers that serves excellent quality meat at very good prices. Lovely assortment of condiments and sauces. Free range eggs, frozen seafood, handmade pies by a local chef, tasty cheeses and hams. Highly recommended.

I’ve bought B.B.Q. Ingredients, large amounts of meat for many Pool competitions! And catered in the past, for celebratory functions from this butchers.....and have never been disappointed, not once! Highly recommend and at extremely competitive prices and good customer service too always.

For years have used Ocado for weekly shops. This weekend, having ordered a 1.8kg free range chicken, they delivered a totally inadequate 1.35 for dinner for four with friends. So, having bought a superb half lamb leg at Doels a few weeks ago, drove to Buntingford and picked up a 1.94kg bird at a very reasonable price - far cheaper than Ocado. Cooked beautifully, carved perfectly and actually tasted of chicken! Have the feeling I will be visiting more often...

Always buy my meat here. If they don't have what you want they will try their best to get. Excellent quality and service.
