I’m so glad I live just round the corner from Didcot Pet Store. Lovely local shop, friendly staff, so super helpful. They had great advice when my 12 year old terrier Betty started experiencing an upset tummy, I buy all her food and treat from the shop. 2 weeks ago they also sourced our wonderful 2 guinea pigs Percy and Rupert. They asked what breed, sex and colouring we wanted and the 2 boys are perfect. Super happy and healthy and settling in so well. We are delighted. Thanks Didcot Pet Store, we are very happy customers! ?

Visited today to use their self-service dog wash station. The staff were so helpful and friendly, taking us through the process step by step. The dog wash was very effective and Poppy is looking clean and smelling beautiful!

I only discovered this pet store recently which is odd as it is really close to me.

On both the occasions I have been there employees and owner were helpful and friendly.

It's nice to find a pet shop that isn't part of a national chain.

They have had everything I have needed and my German Shepherd 'Bailey'was very taken with his new Kong.

I will certainly be using them again

Bird DIED after only a few days.
After traveling for over an hour, I purchased a 9 week old cockatiel from this store. Once I got home it seemed like something was wrong with him, he was constantly shaking, had a really droopy wing, couldn't fly and seemed more tired than I'd been expecting. I contacted the store THE NEXT DAY with a video and told them I was concerned something was wrong with him, they assured me "He's just nervous but he's perfectly fine."
A few days later he sadly passed away. I was absoloutely devasted, I contacted the store to let them know and their response was "Very sad."
A couple of days later, I asked if they would offer a warranty or discount on another, especially after I had contacted them with my concerns the day after we got him. (At this point I'd spent a lot of money on the setup and bird, and I no longer had a bird.) I was told they'd offer me nothing & that they wouldn't sell a bird that wasn't in perfect health, that he was healthy because he was 'eating'.
A quick bit of research tells me it's not that rare for invisible defects to appear around 2 months, but rather than comfort me with that knowledge or offer any support whatsoever, they decided to imply I'm at fault instead.
Devastating experience, awful customer service, terrible ethics.

Purchased on the 27th - Died on the 8th.

Messaged on the 28th with a video of my concerns which were VERY obvious. Yes, I also stated 'he's amazing'. (He was amazing, his standard of care was not.)

Here are some things I didn't allow seeing as the store still seems intent on blame instead of taking any accountablility;

*I did not allow any other animals in the same room to 'worry him' - he had his own room which was his space.

*I did not allow spray, perfumes or air fresheners to be used.

*I did not use a non stick pan.

*I did not paint.

Regardless, he was clearly sick the day we brought him home as shown in the video I sent to them less than 24 hours after having him, but they'd still rather insult me by saying 'we don't know what condition he's been kept in'.

The website boasts that the animals they sell have been cared for to the 'highest standards' - I don't believe that to be the case.

"Our friendly expert team are on hand to give you all the advise you need" - There was nothing expert about the bad advice I was given on the DAY AFTER I GOT HIM. Zero empathy, too busy trying to save themselves money. I'll be contacting the correct authorities regarding this.
