Bad experiences accumulated so that for the first time I'll leave a bad review about a shop. TLD: There is no reason to go to this shop, there are other cheaper better shops to either side of the road.

Experiences:
A price X is advertised in big letters even visible from outside. I scan that product and instead it scans for the higher price of Y. Having already been lucky that I even noticed that I'm being charged the wrong higher price I take my time to join the queue to talk to a person. When I explain the situation to the person I get the helpful remark. "It scans for price Y." Yes that is what I told you. It is the wrong price I waited there to ask to a person rather than a machine in order that the person can correct the price. Now I'm beginning to suspect I would have had more luck talking to the checkout counter 😉

Anyway, the only service I can thank them for is that they annoyed me so much that I went one block further to buy the same product cheaper elsewhere (half to price of even the falsely advertised sales price X!).

Another time I went to this shop well during the opening times according to google but they were already closing. They were unfriendly and unapologetic. Said they already knew google had it wrong but what could they do about it. Well they could do their job. You can report incorrect times. Pretty much the most important thing you can get right as a shop manager.

Wouldn't usually rank a supermarket, let alone with 5 stars, but mostly just wanted to counteract some of the negative reviews and say this little shop offers something none of the big supermarkets on Holloway road seem to - *soft plastic recycling*.
For me that's reason enough to visit once every few weeks and shop here instead of my usual store, even though the prices are disproportionately high as other reviewers have noted.
Will also say that they have a pretty decent selection of gluten-free products given the small size of the store.

I've never reviewed a supermarket before but there is a consistently foul smell of rotting meat in the back of the store. Not quite the fresh baking smells the other ones pump out..... and not what you want when you're buying food.

Disgusting service. Just ordered three bottles of baby milk which were not included in my order despite me paying over £5 for them. Contacted the store who had no care and put the phone down on me. 0 stars

Terrible shop. Like many other locals, I couldn’t wait for this smelly petrol station to be turned into a new shop so close to where I live.

However I was incredibly disappointed. They don’t have many basic items that almost every shop has, for example if you’re going in to get some bread or a packet of sweets or chocolate, they’ll have none of the normal standard brands that most people would want, but instead one unheard of version, and there is very little choice.

There are hardly any (1-2) self service machines and one of them is always closed. When using them, no matter what you do it will start randomly beeping and it will say assistance is coming, and it is very slow.

The cashier checkout, which there is one of, every single time I have gone there there is no cashier there, and I have to go and find someone to come and help me.

And constantly around the shop things are out of stock, labels are mixed up, and there are spillages of everywhere.

CONCLUSION:

There are many other better options for example the Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Aldi up the road, and if you have to go to Co-Op there is a fantastic one on Junction road a 5-10 minutes walk.

I would give this shop a zero-star rating if I could.

I was so happy to have a CO-OP as local shop when it opened. Things changed since then unfortunately. Not easy getting some service. Their self check-out do not accept cash payments. The shop used to close 11pm but now closes 10pm, so losing my custom as when I get back from work they're already closed. In the morning, most of the days, they don't have any fresh pastries nor fresh bread for some reason. Another loss on customers for them I guess. So, from being happy of their opening, now I wish another shop would have opened. Very disappointing.

I love shopping at co op as they have never disappointed me with their choices of food and drinks inside, good to have such a shop in our local area as they provide a friendly and professional service, thank you co-op

Awful shop. Not one member of staff in the whole store. Clueless security guard not helpful. They want you to use self service check out but you can’t use cash. When we finally got staff member out from the back (it took 10 mins) he just laughed. No sense of self pride or professionalism. Only use as a last resort.
