Today was my first visit to this lovely shop, it certainly won’t be my last! Lots of lovely yarns to squish and admire. Very helpful owner. The only problem was Mr Grumpy was sat in the car so couldn’t buy much. I did get a skein of gorgeous West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite yarn an am looking forward to turning it into a shawl, free pattern too! If you have not been in make an effort to do so it is so worth the trip

I absolutely love this shop ❤️ My husband & I visit Helmsley from the Dales, he goes to the antique shop in the Main Street & I almost run to Castle Stores! The lady in there, called Chris is lovely, she’s very friendly & helpful. I’ve also met her mum on a couple of occasions who is also lovely.
There is a lovely selection of wool & buttons & I always manage to find a bargain or two! I leave the shop with such a ‘feel good’ feeling thank you Chris xxx

I love this shop. Every time I go in the owner and staff/family are very helpful. The owner is very knowledgeable and is more than happy nto advise. II couldn' ask for a better experience. I couldn't spend hours and hours in this shop. Added bonus is the second hand books that they also sell. A wool shop that my husband is very happy to spend time here, going through the second hand books.

Good range at a reasonable price for some items. The lady behind the counter is a little grumpy and rude, didn't acknowledge us in the shop or asked if I needed anything. When I did ask for something she flippantly told me where I could find it. She just wasn't very nice.

Very much a hidden gem of Helmsley . I feel I am very lucky that Castle Stores is very near to where we live. An absolutely wonderful shop -think "child in a sweetie shop syndrome".
Huge selections of different types of wool ranging from specialist Yorkshire wools to cashmere to cheaper starter types Very reasonable prices, much better than a lot of shops I have shopped in for wool,over the years.
A big selection for knitting patterns,needles and buttons too.
What makes this shop so special are the owners so friendly and knowledgeable and they are happy to spend time with you sorting out what you really want.
For those who dont knit but like handknitted garments there are lots to buy that you can wear.
Sited just off the main square opposite the Church/Feversham Arms -worth hunting it out .
