First time going last night. Was very impressed.
The food was very nice and the chef was even happy to accommodate changing some of the menu to get it exactly how I liked which I'm greatful for.
The staff were extremely friendly and happy and willing to assist in any way they could.
The only gripe I have is by the end of the night around 21:30 it felt like we're being pushed to leave even tho there was a party of 8 or so still behind us far from ready to leave.

Edit 2024: called in again whilst on holiday and I had an excellent, authentic carbonara. Delicious. Mrs C had the spinach and ricotta ravioli.

My first visit here since arriving in holiday. On a busy Thursday evening they managed to squeeze a table of three in.

I had the pasta al Forno which was delicious. A couple of glasses of very good sangiovese went down well.

As did the complimentary garlic pizza 🍕 which was delicious.

After a visit to Tuscany in 2023 we decided to try our ‘local’ Italian restaurant. And to our pleasant surprise, the food was just as great as anywhere we dined out in Italy. We’ve been back several times since and the food and service has always been top notch. I’d go as far as to say, this is the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in the UK.

Not a great experience today at cafe italia. Starters are overly priced. Going on £10 for one starter so we avoided those. All my family ordered pizza, my gluten free was £2.50 extra even though I witnessed the chef going to the store next door to buy a FROZEN base. He then carried it through the restaurant infront of my eyes. To add, my grandma’s pizza was burnt to a crisp so she hardly touched it. I complained about this and the nice waiter did knock this off our bill. We also enquired about the chips, the waiter admitted they were processed and not home made. It is meant to be an Italian style restaurant but nothing is made from scratch. FROZEN pizza base and pasta from a packet. Plus FROZEN chips. We won’t be returning. FROZEN produce at crazy prices. No thanks.

As a family we love this place, been several times and everything is spot on every time, can’t understand the negative reviews, eaten at hundreds of place around Halifax over the years and this is tops, loverly atmosphere, service and food plus great birthday sing a long is the personal touch, for Italian food it’s 5⭐️.
