We came here for a meal while having a day trip in holt. We asked the lady at the counter if we could sit in but eat the food available for take out. She said that wouldn’t be a problem, we also double checked with our server. When we checked the amount we’d payed later we found out they’d added about a 75% price increase to the original price because we had stayed in. We had not been told that this would be added and weren’t originally offered a receipt with a breakdown of the price so didn’t notice till we got home. I would expect to be told this would be added especially when it’s such a high percentage. Otherwise the food was nice.

We stayed for a couple of nights and were overall very happy with our experience. The hotel and restaurant were lovely. However, our stay didn't start off great as it seemed to be quite understaffed, which was the only negative aspect I could mention. After that, everything improved significantly. The staff were all polite and helpful. I want to highlight one exceptional member of the team who I believe was the restaurant manager. She assisted us at breakfast and went above and beyond to be helpful. She is a real asset to any establishment; her enthusiasm for her job was evident. Thank you for a wonderful stay! 👍🖖

Only came for lunch passing through, was busy but we got seated no problems. Food is a good price and nice quality. Only let down was one of our servers made us feel very unwelcome. I understand it's a busy place but it was very clear she wanted us to leave so they could have a free table. Which I understand but I would have rather been told a time limit than a couple of seemingly passive aggressive check backs trying to get us to move on.

Our 15th wedding anniversary meal and the staff treated us to a glass of prosecco each.

Excellent, friendly service from the two lads on that night (didn't catch names) and an excellent meal. We had the crispy beef and pigs in blankets to start, then the make-your-own and a seafood pizza.

Shared a chocolate brownie dessert and will definitely be back as we used our Golden Tickets and won a free full English and 3 grazers.

We just love Byfords!!! We eat here regularly with our children on our holidays to North Norfolk. The kids options are fantastic and the portion sizes are wonderfully generous, the food is perfectly home style cooking, tasty and comforting, we feel so happy eating at Byfords, it has the best vibes and the food is consistently yummy!

We only picked this place because it was central to Holt and from where we needed to be. We really wanted to like this place, but its service was a let down and not to the "posh" standards they state to be, in terms of service.||Pros:|-tea, cakes and pastries are all well made and tasty|- parking option onsite or in surrounding area at no cost|-Spacious rooms|-complimentary tea and cake voucher for guests |-Modern Nespresso coffee machine inside room|||Cons: |- we went down at 9:45 for breakfast. Waited 10min before being seated, staff wouldn't make eye contact and we had to ask for a table, there were plenty available. The booth seating's were covered in crumbs. Had to wait a further 25mins for hot breakfast order to arrive. Service was so slow. |-Water filter in room was not clean and not topped up with any water after housekeeping had been.|-light switch placement in room 9 is odd. There are three switches directly on the headboard, which we kept hitting our heads on in the middle of night|-lumpy and old mattresses. The minute you lie down, you feel your sinking right in|-In the evening you can hear all the doors slamming and staff talking loudly. Appreciate its a old building and why they provide earplugs|-Water pressure in bathroom sink and shower is very very bad.|-check-in and check-out staff , not very welcoming, they are cold and robotic|-overall services does not match the room rates and prices they charge. |-Wont be returning and unfortunately wont be recommending to others

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Byfords in Holt several times, and every experience has been simply fantastic. Whether it’s for High Afternoon Tea, with delicious cakes, savouries and tea served in a beautiful setting, or for dinner accompanied by live music, every visit has been a pleasant surprise. (For the afternoon tea they gave us a takeaway box to bring food home).

Their Bakery offers incredibly fresh products—perfect for a quick breakfast or a treat to take away.

The staff has always been extremely friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. The food is fresh and carefully prepared, reflecting the high quality you would expect from such a renowned place.

The atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxing, perfect for any occasion.

If you’re in Holt, Byfords is an absolute must, whether for a meal or an overnight stay in their hotel.

We were greeted with instant warmness and kindness by the gentleman on reception (unfortunately didn’t catch his name) but he was so lovely and welcoming when we arrived! We had such a fabulous, cozy stay. Our room was gorgeous & spotless. We had a lovely meal, the food was amazing and we & thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We would recommend this b&b to anyone visiting the Holt area! Thank you to all of the staff for making us feel at home!
