Bought an afternoon tea voucher for two for 34.99, at the time of purchase it showed a few places around where i live, when it came to booking something most of the places were over 2hrs drive and the local ones wanted another £35 on top. Didn't want to pay more or lose £34.99, ended up ordering brownies/blondies from positive bakes who were a rip off too, sent me 25 pieces of brownies size of 50p coin for £35. Seems like buy a gift itself is a con and providing platform for other con companies who would rip you off

Was kindly given a gift card for my Birthday, and wanted to use it for a weekend break. I needed to pay £160 extra, before you could even see if anything was available for where and when we wanted to go, but the write up gave a lot of options so I paid the extra.

3 other booking sites gave me options for where/when we wanted to go for a total price of £230 for the 2 nights, and given that we now had £250 in “Buy-a-gift” vouchers to use, we thought we would be alright

However… the price of the exact same hotel rooms we’d found looking online, through Buy a Gift were £483 meaning they wanted me to pay another £233 on top of my voucher credit

Then to top it off they want 7 days to return the £160 I’d paid, and the credit in the voucher appears non refundable and useless.

My experience means I will never purchase one of these vouchers, and I’d recommend no one else does either! The weekend breaks are a legalised scam!

I had gift voucher from my work as bonus and I misplaced it and recently try and redeem it. I been told it’s expired and as courtesy they offer me £10 coupon code for £200 gift card.absolutely ridiculous service. I wouldn’t suggest getting buyagift, you rather give cash as gift that can give receiver more flexibility where they want to spent.

Never purchase anything from
buyagift!! I was gifted a ‘spa day’ experience from my now late father. On the website you are offered the opportunity to ‘upgrade’ or change your experience. The website prices are consistently changing, and will show you a price and then once you click into the link, the price often doubles- really sneaky. On other occasions, you are lucky if the price stays the same. I decided to video film the whole process of purchasing the ‘upgrade’ option and chose a specific hotel with a one night stay and afternoon tea (rather than a general option of a luxury hotel upgrade which doesn’t list the hotel which was another separate option) Upon paying £150 for this very specific upgrade (you can see the whole process on the video I took of the booking process - which I will post over multiple social media platforms) you are then sent another emailed code to book your experience. Once the email came through, I went back onto the website to book that very specific hotel and experience and it came up that I had to pay another upgrade amount! The total values of my purchase with Buyagift is £249 (I have called the hotel and it is available and would have been cheaper to book direct - no surprise there) The customer service has been appalling- I’ve sent photo screen shots and the video but they come out with different excuses/reasons every time! I have queried a few times now as the communication is dreadful. The last reason given to me was that although I have paid £150 upgrade, I now have to pay an ‘uplift’ which is a different thing altogether apparently…this was not mentioned anywhere at any time before paying the £150 upgrade for the specific hotel & experience. Naturally I have reported to trading standards and citizens advice and will post on every social media platform and other advise anyone to NEVER buy an experience through these cowboys. This was a special gift from my late father which he spent a lot of his money on - it’s utterly heartbreaking and fraudulent.

Pure scam

Paid £10 to extend the length of my £100 voucher. Booked something for £78 but when the voucher got applied to my account , only £57.99 is available. Buy a gift were quick to call and take my £10 to extend the voucher but useless in resolving this. The website is super difficult to navigate (deliberately), how they are still in business I will never know.

Terrible. I will never use them again. Bought a gift experience for my daughter, but when she tried to book, the only ones that didn't require her to upgrade, i.e. pay them more money, were at the other end of the country. The booklets are misleading and they refused a refund as they will only do this within 30 days of purchase, and then only if the voucher has been bought directly from them.

Please avoid this company! I have no idea how they have so many positive reviews - they must be fake!

My partner and I were gifted a river cruise voucher and booked it through the buyagift website. When we arrived at the pier for our cruise we were informed that our cruise left from another pier two hours before and that we had missed our booking, but our booking confirmation very clearly stated the time and location which we arrived to. Buyagift have not responded to our emails and there's no phone number you can call. Nothing but a scam!

To be fair I won't even give them one star. Purchased a merry Xmas box for friends, they found what they want to do and it didn't cost anything extra two weeks ago. Went to book it today and it now requires an 'upgrade' for another £40... So now £90 spent. Booked tickets to a show...to find out that the tickets are incredibly cheaper than this booking straight through with the venue. Also had huge problems with brother using one which was for driving experience...ended up costing loads more and only one available date within the validity of the voucher.
