Bowns is the most brilliant shop in Britain. Certainly Cambridge is so lucky to have a chic boutique run by someone with a genius for what is right for any woman who wants to stay in touch with contemporary fashion - for all ages, from not just here in the UK (Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith) but German and Italian clothes Schummacher and MaxMara and French brands like Paule Ka, Hartford - (exceptional value and great style) - I've been in their own Parisian shop and the range there is only just short of Bowns' own. Yes Bowns does 'special occasion' but if you want to look up to date ,not over or under dressed and simply stylish, on an everyday gorgeous heart lifting basis, make the pilgrimage to Cambridge's Magdalene Street .
I was the first person to walk through the door when the shop opened and recorded a radio interview with the owner against a raucous background of joyous well wishers.Today my wardrobe is entirely Bowns -based, along with my fashion journalist daughters' .
