My partner and I decided on an impromptu visit to the peaks and decided to extend it with an overnight stay. We know the area but haven't been for a while and I remember the hotel being built recently. Well, what can I say - we were blown away! Very modern, comfy, cosy, and welcoming - the hotel has everything. If you have dogs they cater for them. If you have bikes they cater for that too. The residents lounge has complimentary hot drinks all day, an honesty bar, cake at 4pm, a cinema with films showing all day. A good restaurant and bar on site. The rooms are very very cosy and warm, modern, a huge walk in shower and complimentary toiletries with a coffee machine and kettle in the room. We loved it here, and to be honest could have quite easily stayed a few more nights. It's central to Castleton, Mam Tor, Ladybower Reservoir etc are all a short drive away. If you get the chance to visit this hotel, you will not be disappointed. We will be back!

Disappointing Experience – Poor Customer Service & Discriminatory Treatment

Our stay at Bike & Boots Hotel in Hope Valley was extremely disappointing due to poor service, unreasonable restrictions, and what felt like discriminatory treatment.

Firstly, we were enjoying a movie in the hotel’s cinema room when an issue arose. There is a room directly above the cinema, which shouldn’t be there unless it is properly soundproofed. Unfortunately, it was occupied, and the guest staying there complained about the noise. Instead of handling the situation professionally, a staff member abruptly entered, took the remote, and lowered the volume without any discussion, disrupting our experience. This was highly unprofessional and made us feel as though our enjoyment was unimportant.

The second incident was even worse. As a group of four (two men and two women), we ordered takeaway food but, due to staying in separate rooms, we wanted to eat in the common area. Other guests were present, including a couple with their dogs who were drinking in the same space. We had no issue with them, yet they complained about us eating there. Instead of handling this fairly, a female staff member approached us in an extremely rude manner, telling us we lacked etiquette and that we should eat in our rooms. This was unnecessary and disrespectful, making us feel unwelcome.

What made matters worse was the clear difference in treatment. The couple was allowed to sit and enjoy their drinks undisturbed, while we were targeted for simply eating food. As Asians, we strongly felt that this treatment had an undertone of racism. The way we were spoken to and treated was completely different from how the other guests were treated.

Overall, this experience left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. A hotel that promotes itself as a relaxed and friendly place should treat all guests equally and train its staff to handle situations with fairness and professionalism. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone who expects good customer service and a welcoming atmosphere.

The staff here are fantastic. We met family for a meal and the food was lovely. Value for money freshly cooked and plenty of choice. They have smaller food options ( children portions available) and small dish options. They have bike hire and take away options. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. They also do a Sunday roast, which we will be back for. Anyone walking cycling or looking to explore the area should give this place a try. Thank you for a great experience.

I had a very disappointing experience at Bike & Boot. My friends and I were sitting in the lounge area enjoying our meal when a staff member approached us and told us that it was not appropriate to eat food from outside, as the hotel has its own restaurant. We had actually tried the food from their restaurant the night before and found it completely tasteless, which is why we ordered from elsewhere. Since we were a group of four, we didn’t want to eat in our room and risk making a mess, especially with white bed sheets. Instead of handling the situation politely, the staff member was quite rude, asked us to leave mid-meal, and even made unnecessary comments about our etiquette. It was embarrassing and completely unacceptable to treat guests this way.

Another issue was in the theatre room. While watching a film, a staff member interrupted us, saying that a guest in the room above was complaining about the volume. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, they simply turned the volume down to an unreasonably low level and took the remote with them. If the hotel has a designated theatre, then guests should be allowed to enjoy it. Placing a guest room directly above it was a poor decision, and rather than disrupting our experience, they should have offered the complaining guest an alternative room.

Overall, we felt unwelcome and unfairly treated. The staff lacked basic hospitality skills, and the way they handled these situations was completely unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and guest-friendly experience.

We had a fantastic weekend stay at Bike & Boot in the Peak District with my partner and our puppy, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! The hotel’s theme—centered around cycling and dogs—made it the perfect spot for us.

First, the attention to detail here is truly spectacular. The staff were incredible—attentive, helpful, and genuinely friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. For our bike tour, the hotel provided safe overnight storage for our bikes on a secure bike rack, complete with cleaning tools. And for our pup, they even had a dog shower!

The hotel is extremely dog-friendly. The staff adored our puppy, took photos of him, and there were treats everywhere. They also provided a bed, towel, and a little toy for him, making his stay just as perfect as ours.

The food was another highlight. We absolutely loved the dirty burgers—so tasty! After that indulgent meal, we woke up feeling great, and the breakfast did not disappoint either. There was a fantastic variety, all well-presented and cooked to perfection, with plenty of dairy-free and gluten-free options.

Overall, this was one of the best getaways we’ve had, and we will absolutely be back. Huge congratulations to the owners and staff for creating such a brilliant concept with top-notch hospitality!

This hotel is dog friendly everywhere. It was so clean, well run, lovely staff. We were in a small double with the beds pushed together. Very comfortable and we were towards the back of the hotel so no noise from the road waking us.
Babar got a lot of fuss šŸ˜šŸŗ
Coffee was good! They have so much choice for food and drink from champagne to local beer and varied menu.
all of the above it 5 stars to me, I’ve stayed in places that charge Ā£50 a night for my dog and treat him like he’s a wild animal.
The breakfast was the only let down. Self serve continental. Fresh baked goods were solid and bacon was a bit grey in colour

My partner and I last minute booked this hotel for a New Years Eve retreat. Somewhere relaxing for both of us to relax and celebrate going into 2025. I found the hotel at a very reasonable price and was very impressed by the modern build but the cosy and warming interior. As soon as we arrived we were so impressed as the service, atmosphere & stay all aligned with my expectations. We loved seeing all the dogs too!!🐾

Thank you! We will 100% be returning and would also love to try the Scarborough hotel that you have too.

Excellent new hotel. Thoroughly modern.
Good food. Good staff. Good breakfast.
Plenty parking.
Has just two electric car chargers, which unfortunately weren’t working during our visit. Well worth getting them up and running, and fitting a few more.
